yeah, spring steel is apparently good for melting down and making into weapons of personal destruction. Too bad I'm retired from the sword collecting hobby!
Be very careful when making swords and selling them. There's a big difference between swords and sword-like objects. If you don't make one right, and sell it to someone who goes and tries to cut with it, they can do a lot of harm to themselves and to others. If you do make swords, focus on the functional fantasy swords. There's a big market for these, and people are less likely to cut with them as those who buy these types tend to just want a "functional" wall hangar that they will never cut with.

Absolutely... Lawnmower blades are a good choice for knives, prolly hatchets too... but not too sure about longer blades, will have to defer on that one. But what you get from LeafSprings should do fine... are you heat treating at all? If so, what kind of quench are you using? Just curious... I have been wanting to set up a backyard forge for years and have done a little digging into it... but almost all that I found was from "professional" amateurs... not someone just doing it. Good luck sir... may your edge stay honed and your steel true!
