I'm L25 My current hanger is: L4 gep w/ 3 L6 pinatas L2 boa w/ L5 thunder/ tulu L2 golem w/ L5 thunder/Piñata/molot L2 vityaz w/ L5 thunder/2xpinatas I don't understand why if I'm averaging 3+ beacons and 250-300k damage, the matches either go really well or terrible. I can't seem to get above 50% win. i feel like there is a ton of Leo, Natasha, and griffin bots in my fights (of course a ton of mag grips too). I need some advice to get off this roller coaster please.

You're in what is referred to as tier 3, also called high Bronze. You're weak for the tier. That tier allows light mechs up to 4/9 (level of mech/weapons) your light is 4/6. Mediums can be 4/6 (actually a bit over 6) while your mediums are 2/5. You also mix weapon ranges. Don't mix medium and short range weapons, that makes you weak at both medium and short range. The heavy robot thing you're not going to be able to do anything about. The tier is full of people with 6/5 heavy robots and low winning percentages. A 6/5 heavy normally barely qualifies for tier 4 (yes one higher than you and it implies exactly what you think) but if the pilot loses a lot the matchmaking system likes to let them play in a lower tier to make things more 'fair'. No there's nothing you can do about that except to lose a lot to get the MM system to pamper you to make things 'fair'. Otherwise just deal with it, everyone who wins more than half their battles does. That said, most would consider you to be quite promising. You're doing pretty well with a hangar that isn't optimized, and looking at all those Thunders and pinatas you are already taking an approach to the game (get up close, kill the enemy and take their beacons) that leads to great success. Cheers.

I plan on exchanging the Molot and tulu for either tarans or Orkans. I much prefer close range fighting. With that said open boards like canyon are annoying. So should I work mediums up or keep upgrading piñatas? I'm trying to avoid spending on stuff that becomes less useful later on and for what I am reading on advice sections rockets seem to be the way to go. Sorry for rambling thoughts I've been playing a couple of weeks and just found the forum.

I suspect that one problem is that you're using the thunder wrong. The spread is ridiculous. Thunder isn't even useful beyond 200m. And at such close ranges the punisher beats Molots every time.

Your bots are too squishy. Upgrade them to lvl4 bots and level 6 weapons. Learn to use covers and hide until you are close enough (100-200m) to unload everything on them.
Also get Taran for your Boa and start to do corner shooting, much better survivability.

I have been thinking about dropping one of my knife fighters for a Cossack just so that if my team has decided to not help defend the beacons I capped earlier, I have an option that has some speed. I don't want to spend the gold on another gepard because it sounds like they are not as viable in silver and gold tiers. Any thoughts? I will start working my medium bots up to 4/6 so that they are less squishy.

For his level, Taran is easier to obtain. Gold should keep for 5th slot. I spent most of my early WSP on 8 mags for a pair of Pattons. The Au to properly equip my Boas was easier at that point. When in doubt, choose weapons!

I don't want to spend the gold on another gepard. I've got a taran Cossack in my 4/6 hangar for precisely that purpose. It's rarely useful, but I leave it in anyhow. I find that the lack of survivability is only outweighed by the speed on certain maps or certain situations. If you already have a Gep you'd be better served just running that as your capper.

I need some advice to get off this roller coaster please. One of the problems in the lower tiers is that your teammates will usually really stink and/or you will get overrun by clubbers. I found that silver was a lot of fun, and not as frustrating. You can usually handle a MagGepard with a 4/9 Thunder/Taran Boa. The Boa gets way better at L4, so what I would recommend is upgrading your hangar to L4 and your weaps on up to L9 even. Also, silver is mostly dominated by plasma weapons, so you might want some mags. All those pinatas will be super usefeul later on though (as I'm now learning).

This made a huge difference in my game when I finally got some advice like this. The thunder is a beast a <200 but does almost nothing till then.
