We can but hope. Prepare for the worst, hope for the best. With so few details, not really much else to be said.
I have to say, "spend some resources" fills me with dread. Storm / Hover and the like for silver, anything useful, Gold.

What's more important than WS: Classic bot retooling/rebalance. Reduced pricing on older gear.
The pricing for the new hotness just exacerbates the power gap between the overpriced items and the Legacy items. With a rework in cost and performance for older gear, the power gap >can< be somewhat remedied.
However, as horrible as it may sound, Pix would have never gotten away with a complete game overhaul if not for the legions of players they drove out.
Either it's politics, and they were testing us, lining their pockets to drag in that final quarter for Mail.Ru. Mainly due to the lack of avenues of aggressive monetization they're going to have once BoT goes cross-platform.
Or
They're complete morons, and all of this is in response to a sales flop of everything released post Dash Trio outside of ShockTrain.
I'll wager it's a bit of both.

Here’s my concern with the new workshop: if gold will be used exclusively for speeding upgrades and vanity/skins - should I scoop up some gold gear now before it lands?
I have enough for my first Lance and 6th orkan. What will they cost in components if I don’t pull the trigger now?

I am very cynical with everything Pixonic does.
That means I see the worse for the average player in the changes that are forthcoming.
So rework all the old bots to me means re make them so you have two tiers, F2P and P2W, based on what were seeing now, this is lining up perfectly.

Me being someone who spends under $120 a year. If that means I get the short end of the stick and left out of game, then I won't spend a dime and have the same result. This one of many reasons I want to see 1 year road map, exactly as they intend to roll it out. They have that roadmap but seems they are vague on details which concern me.

Awesome share, OP! I hope they implement it properly. It sounds like there's a lot to be excited about.

It sounds promising. I hope they rework the current workshop instead of adding a new Workshop 2.0 that will cost 10k Au to buy!
As for reworking the legacy bots, I wouldn't want them to do small buffs like speed buffs or HP buffs. I would like them to all get a special ability of some sort. Maybe not as powerful as a Dash (or maybe a single small dash) but something that could help them keep up with the new stuff. Kinda like how in wartime, older equipment often gets outclassed quickly by new technology, so manufacturers will go back and retrofit some of the old stuff that are sitting around. Personally, I would love to see a target jammer ability. It's not a stealth, but if jams the lock on acquisition of all weapons that have to lock on for x number of seconds. So, this won't turn all bots into Stalkers, but will buy some breathing space from Hydras, Spirals, Zeus, Shocktrains and Scourges, oh and Aphids.
I'm glad they're not taking away the gold for dailies. I don't really need more gold cause I think I've got enough gold equipment and bots, but I like speeding up my upgrades sometimes, and one day, I'm going to spend the 500 Au to change my profile name in the game.

In my experience marketing never shares dev roadmaps with users in detail - too much changes in priority and delivery that it’s a no-win situation. It’s been worse with Pix/Mail.Poo IMO because their marketing team really stretches the truth on releases. So now I try to read between the lines in posts like what OP provided. I think a Lance is currently the best War Robots bargain around, and worry they’ll “fix” that in WS 2.0. Exhibit A for Lance value:

I could see a sort of unseen, modular add-on gecoming available that would translate into a small % boost for vital mek characteristics like Durability, Speed, Targeting, Weapon Reloading, perhaps Agility may become a factor? So if you want a speedy Leo, you could have it but not a speedy Leo that has more Hitpoints... Maybe this new system will look similar to the MK2 system? Mk2 is for Durability... Mk3 for speed ect.ect.

So you might earn 150 Gust components a day, but only 20 Ember components.

I’d love to be hopeful. But. Every single time Pix has promised to make the game better for free-to-play players as well as whales, they’ve ended up screwing the pooch worse than ever before. This all sounds great, but I would wager my right arm/the cost of a Haechi that the final product they release is just another way for players with deep pockets to stomp on FTP players.

I always felt like some Meks were always more accurate with weapons than others and others seem to be hit more than the rest... With recent talk of the Boa redesign I have really started to think more solidly about the possibility of tweeks. i.e. An updated suspension for the Cossack that could make the 1.5 second recovery shortened... or something allowing its jump altitude/length being extended... I remember pkaying a Racing Arcade game where you could upgrade tires, engines and brakes inbetween races... Or Robokrieg where you can buy special ammo or increase targeting abilities...

"In War Robots all equipment has to available for everyone."
Wouldn't a better time to realize this and implement it be before releasing half a dozen plus new bots?
