So, I'll start by saying that I'm really enjoying the new MM.
Previously, I always ranked top three every match, and slogged a win-rate in the mid 70% with a sub optimal hangar. My current win percentage has only gone down by an average of 5-10%, and I find that my rankings are much more difficult to achieve.
This is a GOOD thing.
While I understand the psychological rewards people tend to feel from being the 'best', being at the top of the board consistently means that the competition, friend and foe, was not on par, in one way or another.
Now, no matter what the bot levels of friend/foe, I have to work for it, and engage strategically.
There are a lot of questions about the state of War Robots, and the validity of medium and lighy bots. For that, I have this:
-Ag light bots that aren't green are now beginners only. The Destrier and Shultze are too slow/fragile for the amount of firepower they have at any level outside of beginner battles.
-Premium lights are the Hyenas of the savannah, opportunists in every sense. They live to flank, distract, and grab unattended beacons. Gone are the days of low and mid level play where light bots had any sort of brawling capability.
-ALL mediums are viable: Patton falls short.
Medium bots are the lions of the savannah, quick brawlers that can fit a variety of roles. They may not do as much damage as heavy bots, but, LEVEL YOUR BOTS!!
-Ag Meds have unique advantages, 3/4 of them can host a thunder. They're faster than heavies, significantly enough when leveled to engage and disengage at will.
-Premium Meds are more or less fast heavy bots in terms of firepower.
-Heavy bots are hippos, prone to getting picked off and hammered at distances, and taking their sweet time getting to the fray, but are difficult to displace, and deal the highest damage across the board.
Earlier in thd game's life, shortly after Rhino-land, the talk of the town was about not forcing one bot into all roles. Right now, that is as true as ever. Stop trying to brick-fight with every bot you use, it won't work.
For every game I've won against 8/8 to 10/10 heavies (currently using 6/6 heavies), there are at least 2 games I've lost that all of blue team consisted of heavy bots, and couldn't reach beacons fast enough to keep them, while medium/light reds continually flipped beacons and displaced friendlies at every oppurtunity.
Shut up and play!
