Does anybody else think there's too much splash damage? It ssems A direct hit is less damaging than a hit you got out of the way from.

Yes! I think from a common-sense perspective, a shield should provide quite a great deal of protection from an explosion, and I say this not having any of the BritBots (albeit a Rhino). I think the only thing that ought to "splash" around a shield would be flames, which folks in the flamethrower thread pointed out shouldn't really hurt robots all that much. Then again, I also really want to be able to throw Ecus like Captain America's shield and bludgeon bots with it.

I have never had a big issue with splash from pinatas or pins... Recently the new MM has decided to introduce me to the triple trident furies. These guys don't even have to aim at you - I swear I run sideways in a reasonably paced Galahad while they shoot at my location from 45 seconds ago and I still lose 15k health.

Physical shield bots are powerful enough as is. No need to nerf the only effective counter to them. Trident furies are very effective, yes, but they should be. They cost a small fortune, and that's not even figuring the silver cost of upgrading three tridents.
We have enough trouble with lag issues. I can't tell you how many times I've unloaded my Tridents at a target that teleports to where you weren't aiming.

Seeing top tier, players and clans all the time with their maxed out tridents. I kinda understand about the splash damage and shields thought.
But in reality as with my rhino, Lancelot and now Galahad. The splash is hitting the area's not covered by the shield. So let's say the splash hits to your side or a little behind the shield, it's the body of the bot that is losing the damage not the shield. If I am hit head on, I fair a little better from the three maxed tridents on a Fury. But then again there is some splash damage to the body of my bot.
And my shielded bots are greatly weakened. Another player then hit me right away with a set of missiles or a hit from and top level weapons, takes me out.
I also believe hydra's, aphids, and even high at spirals have some splash level also. And it might well be that all projectile weapons have splash damage which is why you find them used in high gold bots.
Earlier today I played against tech warriors clan at the time no. 2 ranked clan. I always check their profiles after I lose to them or any other top clan so I can get ideals and see if I might learn something from them. 2 users had some type and different variations of maxed out projectile weapons on their maxed out bots. This was griffin's, rhino's, galahad's and of course the dreaded fury's.
This is just my observation, no hard facts to back it up, take it with a grain of salt, or ignore completely.
*Old man remembers when splash meant giving the kids a bath.*

I'm not talking about shield bots necessarily. I'm talking about ducking behind a wall and still getting blowed up.

With tridents and tulumbas that exactly what they are for. Been there felt that.
I have all types of bots at yam on the center stand, hiding and never being hit by a direct shot.
