Here to report on my tests.
I posted via Mozilla and discovered that I was demoted back to Destrier and my post is under quarantine. So far so good. Then I went away, posted via Chrome mobile and no quarantine there. I assume, it's visible as usual. So, on one hand I'm relieved that my infinite wisdom doesn't go to waste, on the other hand there is still work to be done.

The post images through imgur button should only be available on desktop mode, so I restricted posting attachments to staff. This means that you will only be able to post images through imgur on desktop mode though. There is a work around that I am trying to find a different way to disable. The reason why is that disabling it the current way I know how to would disable the posting of images on desktop mode as well. Luckily, this workaround is quite inconvenient. |

In my work, we use Device Id tracking for fraud detection, not IP. I don't know of any free plug in for this, they're all commercial products.
But, very effective...

At one point this clown had the entire forum covered with his filth. It appears everything is under control again for the most part. Mods are doing a fantastic job of keeping the forums secure. There have been no further attacks since the day before yesterday so either he has given up or these security checks are doing their job. Hopefully we won't be having any more of these sick degenerates posting nonsense. |

first, thanks to all mods and vstfs diligently working to make the forum clean.
I see a couple of posts from newer IDs hidden with quarantine banners. one is asking whether Anciles are still worth, the other is a newer pilot's takes on Hover bots posted about an hour ago (iPad, safari)
I wonder whether there is an option to quarantine only those posts that include a link or an attached image.
Most newcomers will ask questions with text-only posts, and these texts convey information (and mal-intentions) in much slower rates and hence less dangerous than graphic images, which jump out of the screen and attack eyes and brains connected to them with the entire mass of pixels at once.
if quarantine can focus on only those posts with a link or an attachment, will it not lessen the burden on mods and vstfs and also prevent newcomers' posts and questions being forgotten by the time they are quarantined and shown to the public?
sorry if this has been already worked on for the redundancy and thanks again!

I have been a long time lurker and have ~40 posts, which I realize is not a lot, but all my posts are coming up quarantined and haven't been changing. Do these get reviewed? Im sure it would be no big loss to the community, but I for one am about to move along if I cant express my views.

Some of the material posted in here was absolutely disgusting. Seriously things that even the worst horror films would not show. It's for protection of the younger members. New members just need to understand the severity of a child seeing such photos. It was honestly so bad that at one point it covered the entire forum. Every thread and the shoutbox. It's necessary, even though it can be a bit testing to new members. If you would have seen what many of us saw...you would certainly understand. There are sick individuals in this world who have no life and serve no purpose other than to ruin the fun of other people. It's a sad fact. I am very happy that Mods have finally stepped in and put a foot down on this type of behavior and I hope it sends a strong message to the fools doing these acts. |
