That's some of the ruin guys, that used to have wave after wave of gephard's w/lvl 12 mag, piñata and aphids in low silver. No need to move from home beacon the game was spent defending it. I recognize some of those names. I played Iow silver a lot, after I got fed up with high gold. Until new mm came online and I went back to gold.
Always dreaded seeing them.

Hmm... I'm wondering if they drop in squads because this makes it so that the games end more quickly for the other team and it's more fair that way than when they drop in pairs or threes and leave their teammates playing 3v6.

Did the Ruin squad not drop into the game but not quit either? So in a way they played the match without dropping?
I'm assuming that is what they did in order to give the other squad a win without many beacons or zero beacons and no kills. Or else they dropped and killed themselves right away and didn't drop any more bots.
Just a waste of everyone's time for the blue squad.

And since they are all starting strong Elos they are expected to win, maybe bigger Elo drop. And guarantees loss, no risk of teammates surviving despite the disadvantage you left them and winning causing your Elo to rise. If they are tanking in order to club, they don't care about teammates they screw on the way down.

Never saw a red show up on the HUD or on the team count. I did report the instance to Pix as a big report.

I'm getting sick of this.
Losing is part of the game, but getting pilots with 3 or 4 bot slots on your team just to make it more challenging when you win above 80% is punishment.
However, this ditching of matches to lower Elo is getting to be every other match.
I am not putting up with this for long, as I find it easier to put down this game with this kinda stuff [RUIN] is doing.

We are trying to equalize our matchmaker scores by bottoming out and coming back up together, so that we can actually squad together again and not get crazy matches. As a predominantly silver clan, the new MM has totally broken our ability to squad with one another and not be horribly mismatched. I don't want to get into details, but those of us who play silver cannot play with those of us who play gold and be effective. As a predominantly silver clan, this is extremely problematic. And so this is the best solution we have found thus far so that those of us that play different hangers can still go down to "faux silver tier" and play together.
Within hours of doing this we see posts on the FB players page and here, seriously, SO MUCH SALT. We just want to be able to play together again.

My suggestion is to report these instances every time they happen and Pix will be forced to look at each report and decide what to do about it. It might be inconvenient to you but sending multiple reports, forces it to come back into their attention. Annoying customers are harder to ignore.

There's nothing noble about getting your tail kicked by 12/12 squads when the best hangar you can rock is 6/10 on average, if I was into masochism, I'd just borrow the 50 shades series off my wife.
At least the RUIN-bashing has quelled the endless debates on this forum about the purity of thunder shutze farming versus gepard magnum clubbing.

If RUIN wanted to squad together, they would just have to match bot/wep lvls. I'm simply not buying " were tanking to zero to play together". The only thing that makes sense to me is dropping your Elo to club again.

At least the RUIN-bashing has quelled the endless debates on this forum about the purity of thunder shutze farming versus gepard magnum clubbing. There's nothing noble about 6 pilots tanking as a clan just to gain an advantage later on. I was a Thunder Schutze clubber (yes, it's still clubbing with 4/6 Thunder Schutzes) for the first year I played the game. There's no moral high ground in upclubbing with Schutzes - I just didn't believe that spending 5K Au, 50K WSP, and the silver to level 15 L12 Mags was worth spending just to earn Au. If I thought Mag Geps were worth it, I would have used them - but they were consistently proven not to be. All that aside, tanking games on purpose is WAY below seal clubbing. You are screwing the pilots on the other team by giving them zero damages. Good pilots work hard for their average damage stats and most view them as the most important stat at this point. Bottom line us that you are hurting other people. Seal clubbing was allowed by Pixonic and I took advantage of it. Tanking games on purpose is neither accepted by other pilots or by Pixonic. I know this is just a game, but how you deal with other people online is not different than who you are in life. If you think what your are doing is okay and justifiable, then the MM not being noble is the least of your problems in life.

Right. Okay.
Being banded up into a higher tier with squad mates that can talk you through it is a pretty good learning experience. But if that isn't acceptable, I think a better solution is to ask your higher-tier players regularly play in a hangar decently close to the lower-tier players. Eventually, the Elo MM will accurately rate the higher-tier players at the tier they want to play in, and they can squad with the rest.
Problem solved. No matches ruined.... oh wait, ruining them was the real point, wasn't it?

Within hours of doing this we see posts on the FB players page and here, seriously, SO MUCH SALT. We just want to be able to play together again. Well, the MM would just have taken the best MM from the squad and gone from there. So, you would have been squading up around the Gold players hanger. Just like every other squad out there. Just all equip a silver hanger and the MM would have given you appropriate matches. Your "equalizing your matchmakers" is only accomplishing screwing a ton of people over in the process and then clubbing the crap out of people. My guess is your squad started tanking again before your Elos rise to where they should actually be.... Once a clubber always a clubber, eh? There's nothing noble about getting your tail kicked by 12/12 squads when the best hangar you can rock is 6/10 on average, if I was into masochism, I'd just borrow the 50 shades series off my wife. At least the RUIN-bashing has quelled the endless debates on this forum about the purity of thunder shutze farming versus gepard magnum clubbing. Most of that is noise of the MM right now, people doing this crap and trying to tank their Elos is just making it worse for everyone. So, while your squad was tanking, twice the six people on my team had our Elo's buffed up, possibly without warrant, throwing us into matches beyond us and causing more turbulence. If you guys were all clubbing in silver, you should be able to equip roughly equal strength hangers and do just fine. Hell, our squad varied from 10/11 to 8/8 and we were doing just fine squadding around and winning a solid 50% of our matches. Occasion matches against a TT Squad, but that is the MM's preference for squad vs squad and happened under the old MM too.

This is by far the quickest and most efficient way of being able to squad with our silver hangers and also be able to catch other silver clans doing similar things. Realistically, this is probably a stop gap solution until the silver players who haven't already outright quit the game, can reformulate their hangers into a competent gold setup. Also, the opposing team gets free gold for just sticking around for a few seconds, so whatever.

Is it abuse of the system? yes... Is it kinda cowardly? Probably.
However, at least they are doing it as a full squad. That is at least being considerate. Some others were doing it in squads of 2-4. This means that randoms thrown in with them were left in the lurch and at the mercy of a 2v6 matchup. Now THAT is an even more scum move.

No matches ruined.... oh wait, ruining them was the real point, wasn't it? In theory yes, we could do that. With the way the current matchmaker works you have to play several hours of games in order to be placed in a somewhat appropriate bracket. So say someone who mostly plays gold wants to play with a friend in silver tier who has just come online, what is he to do? Play with silver bots for hours just so that they can get a few games in together? You are talking about guys who have been playing together for months and some for even a year or more, and now suddenly they can't play together. Some play gold more often than silver and vice versa, and because they can no longer just switch hangers and play together it is creating a very frustrating experience for many. Maybe everyone at some point will let go of all the time and work they put into their silver hangers and relegate themselves to playing only with gold bots. In the meantime we will find ways to play with each other in the way we were accustomed to and loved. If you could sign on to our discord and actually talk to these guys that many of you here like WE034 are so quick to lambaste, I think you would soon realize that your opinions about them are overly simplistic and largely unfounded.

Thanks Strayed. We've all got a good sense of humour in this forum and in RUIN. There's been a lot of banter between RUIN and TECH that has had a paparazzi style beat-up because of a few jokes about seal clubbing in our clan bios, ever since RUIN went number 1 with first the pumpkins and then the snowflake events. We're just suckers for any old gimmick. Being number 1 in anything puts a big target on your back in any game, but that's life. We're all grown-ups in RUIN, so we can play the role of the heel, if that's how it's gonna be. Me and BooBoo/#stillclubbing are on the forum discord, so hit us up if you'd like to squad with us, or chat with us. freakonomics.com/2013/10/23/what-makes-people-do-what-they-do/
