Hey folks! I've mentioned here how the MM seems to have "sorted me out" as of the last couple days. Here's the data around what I've been seeing. I cover: > Player experience > Player activity > Hangar strength In addition to drawing my own conclusions, I have some questions as to what the future of the game looks like under this new system. Thanks for reading, here's the latest post: geparddiary.com/2017/01/25/by-the-numbers-the-aftermath/

Thank you Dredd!
I have a bit of insight based on your data, and a few requests.
Your Hanger: I think your hanger isn't terribly balanced and likely a reason for the larger discrepancies in your average Bot level and your average weapons level. There likely still exists penalties for Mediums and Heavies, but we don't know what that looks like right now. Your H6/5 and M6/7 are probably setting your hanger strength. I'm pretty sure that the MM is still using best Bot or heavily weighted towards best Bot, not an aggregate for your entire hanger. Basically anyone using a balanced hanger, say Medium 7/7 across the board they would have a much higher average hanger strength, but only a marginally higher single best Bot hanger strength.
Light vs Medium vs Heavy: Could you crunch the data and try to find the average levels of different bots. If the highest levels bots were Lights or the highest levels Weapons wee still on Lights we could throw weight behind the theory that there still is a penalty for Meds and Heavies. Combine that with best Bot we might be able to get a better idea how it was determining your hanger strength.
Thank you for putting in the work, I look forward to your updates. Glad the MM settled down where you're at and you are having amazing and tough games. I wonder how much more refinement we'll see in the next week.

Immense kudos for the post.. it's very OCD and very wonkish and I like that a lot That said, two takeaways: a) Carnage. you notices Shutze disappearing, but failed to notice (in the post at least) the % of carnage jumping from about 0.5 to about 4. Carnages are the higher tier (well, whatever it is now) Shutzes. b) the role of lights: I agree about the Jessie, but I always thought that it was pointless proposition even before the new MM. Unless the switch time is equal or less than 3 seconds or other significant advantages, a three always available hardpoints bot was always a better choice than a 2+2. Lights in general with the new MM, it's still hard to see. as I see it, with a MM apparently heavily skewed in favor of ELO, lights can serve only one purpose: capping beacons fasts and repeatedly and only that. I think the times when lights could be used for beacons and damage is over (and even back then, it was just for the Gepard and the Shutze and, in a very limited way, an heavily aphid armed Stalker). Now, a fast light hangar with minimal weapons and lots of ecus will always get the 5 gold... assuming the rest of the squad can make up for the damage you won't do, which is rare in random MMed squads. Which is the reason I think the natural evolution will be to see specialized players with armored-maxed lights in clan squads and very little lights, except for stalkers and aphid gepards, being played otherwise. Well, until someone finds a way to game the new MM, and we know someone will, sooner than later. BTW, i expect to see patton aphids becoming even more ubiquitous.

I ran a mostly light hangar and had a lot of fun beacon capping and being an annoying PITA with aphids. I guess I can arm the ecus and still do the beacon capping part, but I imagine I will spend a lot of time as a spectator after my 5 slots mech out. Time to adapt. Oh well.

Thanks dredd77. As usual, a fun read.
I also wonder what will become of the light bots. My favorite bot is the cossack but it is sadly unusable in the higher levels. I can't really think of an easy fix either--the darn things become too fragile and their dps too weak.

Well done, can't wait to see what your data shows once they release the next tier update

Gave me hope.

had some free time and started a new account to see how bad light robots do in new MM TL;DR (short version) good ELO makes my destrire fight Tarans, Leo, Natasha, Griffin and even Fujins! Disclaimer: Too lazy to go and note levels and stats of the enemy, sorry Rookie tire: Does not exist! when i was at level 4, i saw a few enemy thunder guns (maybe coz of ELO) till about level 5,6 it seemed i was the seal clubber capping beacons with sprial massacring bots. but then lot of enemy started running medium bots and spiral was ineffective (in a destrire) level 6+ was tricky (enemy was not much advanced in weapons BUT game play of most seemed decent, eg chasing down my beacon capper) switched tactics to ditch sprial for pinata (had some trouble with low splash at start, i normally use tulu in main account) Positive: I did face WSP bots, but that were matches full of those high guys, maybe coz i jumped a tire, so a battle loss and MM leveled out again. Note: I did face heavy, but I seriously doubt they know much (probably new heavy bot and extremely low ELO) Disclaimer- small test case - I never faced Yamantu map in this account. I know its silver, BUT isn't old MM scrapped. - Analysis why I didn't have Yamantu map MIGHT give some hints on new MM tires. - I did face multiple bots turning ECU in front of my pinatas! so I am not sure if they are outliers to MM (no one puts ECU to a splash weapon, and my win rate is good so they must be good too?) - I didn't observe any gold weapons or bots (except one gecko guy) - NO gepards seen! - No alphids seen

Leagues and other game modes are coming out of this new MM phase in. Light bots will have their place just as any other.

Hi Chiya. Save up some gold and field some gareths. I am finding they can do very well on pretty much all the maps set up as plasma or ork/pinata. They are definitely functional as power beacon runners.
