Haven’t got a ST but just thinking about the concept of a MK2 L12 ST
The initial damage from one MK1 L12 ST is 15,500. The chain effect is based on the subsequent bot’s health as it takes off a percentage. So taking a ST to MK2 L12 will give you a marginally bigger initial hit (+3100) but the damage caused by the chain effect does not change.
Since the chain effect is responsible for the bulk of the damage the marginal benefit from taking it to MK2 L12 is insignificant.
EG, MK1 L12 ST hitting 4 downstream bots with an average health of 100K produces about 85K damage. Same situation for a MK2 L12 produces 88.5K damage. That’s like 4% more?!
What am I missing?

I think the damage by the chaining will also increase by the leveling. if the first bot received +3100 damage, the second will get + 3100 x 0.65 (0.5 after the update), the third will have + 3100 x 0.65 ^2, etc. so it's worth upgrading? on the field, 3x lvl12 ShocktrainMk2 really feels different from 3x lvl12 Shocktrain, from the experience of being on the receiving side. often it decides whether to kill or be killed, ... EDIT2: if the chain damage is like 65% of the bot's remaining health, than how come they can finish off so many dying bots down the chain? EDIT: and 3x lvl12 ShocktrainMk2 are much more worth ranting about. the green-ness of the hangar. a true signature of a whale,

Irrespective of the first bot and the initial damage value not counted again.

No you misunderstand how it work. For example lets take the first hit for 10000 damage, it'll go like this: 10000 -> 5000 -> 2500 -> 1250... And with mk2 upgrade: 12000 -> 6000 -> 3000 -> 1500... The damage depends on how hard the previous hit deals, not on % of bot current health.

I don’t think so. in that way, the Shocktrain won’t be able to kill off any bot in chain, but I saw so many bots killed, sometimes multiple of them in one shot, in chain,

You level it for the same reason you would level Zeus. It's all about that initial shot which is heavy weapon-like damage. That's the bulk of the damage. The subsequent hits are bonus damage, or bonus kill when you fire a weak charge just to kills the nearby player with a sliver of health.
And the damage on the ricochet shots are definitely not the percentage of the robots health. You've certainly never lost 50% hp. That would be stronger than the initial shot.
