Hi,
I know that I can connect an Android controller, technically. But is it worth it - can you achieve smoother gameplay with it? I figure I could connect the pad to my big screen and use the controller to run the game, which sounds pretty cool. In theory.
I tried playing with Bluestacks, and found that it's just no match for my pad - with my pad I can change direction while firing and moving, while in Bluestacks I can only move in 8 directions (45deg steps) and I have no way to fire, move and change aim at the same time. I read a bit about controller configuration there, but the key point is really the ability to fine tune robot direction, that is, move just slightly to follow your target, and I couldn't see how you could do it even with a game controller for a PC.
I guess an android controller could work, if you had a joystick controlling movement direction, and a swipe control to rotate your robot. Can you do that with an android controller, and if yes, which model(s)?
Best, F.

Had the same idea, except with a ps4 control. My only concerns would be lag and overloading my phone.

I don't have experience from controllers, but have you tried MEmu android emulator ? Quote from Wiki site (compared to Bluestacks): " One important difference is that MEmu allows you to aim without holding down the mouse button..."With Memu you can fine tune aim and direction more easily with mouse without pressing mouse button at the same time. That action is activated by pressing mouse right button. However basic movement is still to 8 directions. warrobots.wikia.com/wiki/How_to_play_WWR_on_PC

However, I find it difficult to control movement and firing with one hand, but that's how it's going to be if you want a mouse in the other hand. (I have ring and index fingers permanently on the left/right key and use the middle finger to go up/down.) I'd very much prefer to use controls as on the pad/phone: Movement with one hand, firing with the other hand, turning with whatever hand you like.
