Check this out. In all honesty I think this will be really great, not just for current players, but for new players as well. Being able to increase your post match income if you had a good game, speeding up upgrades by 20 minute increments, and getting to open free bronze chests. I think my last post where I complained that the only step Pixonic has left to take was shoving ads in your face like Gameloft does, ended up jinxing this (but possibly in a good way). But it actually sounds like these ads will come in handy for speeding up progress, even if by a little bit. This will certainly help new players build up their silver hangars, no doubt. What do you think? Will Pixonic make this a nice feature or will they 「fluffernutter」 it up like they've been doing recently?

Oh look. Another Pixonic employee telling how great a new feature will be. The ad watching probably will be mandatory when it goes live (not optional). Mark my words.

I still have my doubts, I literally just asked at the very end if they will mess this up like they usually do. Not sure if I sound like much of a Pixonic employee with that tone.

This'll be easy. Reset your Google ID when the limit ends and then you'll be able to speed up upgrades nonstop. Love it. Assuming this uses Google Ads. Works for me in other games I play when the Ads stop working.

I remain skeptical. Pix is rarely generous with players, so it’s yet to be seen what the rewards really are. Bronze chests? What so I can get more small amounts of keys to gamble or components to further entice me to spend money because I’m slightly closer to 10k components for a weapon I need 2 or 3 to use with any effect?
Not intended to rain on OP - really appreciate your effort to keep everyone informed.
Need to get my Friday face on and ditch the negativity.

Actually that's something pretty good, will stay good if they don't screw it up and put pop up ads after every battle.

BoT employees are easy to spot on these forums. Note the generic name with "War Robots" at the end of it. Registered less than a month ago in anticipation of the BoT release on iOS.

But I just decided to not care about it and just enjoy or not enjoy the match I am playing at the time... rather than compare it to the old days or worry about what Pix may or may not do in the future.... good or bad, and it's helped. A lot, actually. I ain't hopeful for anything that they promise to actually be what we want or need, though, but again I just don't care anymore. It's just a game, after all... right? We know, now, what they are and what they do... so... as long as we expect every move they make to be geared towards taking as much as they can for as little as possible in return... we can't be disappointed! In fact, we can only be pleasantly surprised if it turns out that it isn't a flagrant money grab! I call it... Pessimistic Optimism. Here is how it works: So, every time they release a weapon that was balanced (or even slightly under-performing) on the TS, with SUPER buffed properties on the Last Stand that ends up cheesing the 「dookie」 out of the game... I just get P.O.ed. Or when they take a feature that works correctly and make it "better" in such a way as to completely and utterly 「fluffernutter」 up the game, I just get P.O.ed. Or when they test out MM changes on Android in such a way that my clan's Champion members sit for upwards of 6 freaking minutes to get a match, yup... you guessed it, I get P.O.ed! I'm sure you get the gist by now... I actually enjoy the game a lot more now.... staying P.O.ed, and I even finally got my first Mili yesterday! I'm a late bloomer to the Mili club... hasn't really mattered to me tbh... but it is one of those milestones that people mark their progress with, so Hell, I guess it's worth noting! As far as the ads are concerned... I am fine with them as long as they are BY CHOICE like they say in that little blurb, and they truly give in game content rewards and all that. If it brings down the astronomical pricing of all of the new stuff, especially, I will be a happy Tricky Shocktrain does still need to go, though. Worst. Idea. Ever. IMO, YMMV

Kind of funny if the BoT developers see it and advertise through it.

So if you have an upgrade that takes 24 hours the first ad you watch chops off close to 8 hours. The next like 5 hours. Obviously as the overall time decreases so does the amount of time decreased by watching the ad because 30% of 1 hour is only 20 minutes. Real Racing 3 when you get to less than 30 minutes you only have to watch 1 more ad. Not sure how War Robots will implement but when I am sitting there watching TV I will gladly watch a few ads instead of spending my gold.

When a government takes rights away, they don't do it all at once, people would revolt. So they slowly take one freedom at a time and at each step people think to themselves "is it really worth fighting over that one single right?" Eventually people reach the point that they almost have no rights, and by then do those last few rights matter?
And so here we are, ads are coming into the game. And now they will be a choice and people will defend them because they are a choice. Soon the crew that defends this kind of stuff (you know the ones who think we should thank whales) will tell us what does it matter that we have to watch one ad after every 5 games, most people did anyway?
And then it will be one ad after every game, and they'll defend it as the only way for the game to survive, totally ignorant of the fact that the most successful free to play game on the planet has zero ads.
Does anyone seriously think that Pixonic is going to keep their word?

A game can either charge for the initial download, charge for in game purchases, or have ads. Or all of them. War Robots is free to download and right now has in game purchases. Not bad in my opinion. If they have ads with no benefit to me that might suck. But if I gain something from watching them, speed up upgrades, then hell yeah I'll watch an ad for Maxi-Pads instead of having to wait forever or spend gold (I don't do this). Not sure what game you are referring to but which of these methods do they use to make money? Or are their employees all volunteers? If I was the maker of War Robots and I had to dedicate lots of time every month to coming out with an update that usually has a new bot, item or feature then I think I would want to be compensated for it in some way. Even if I enjoyed it. I like my current job alot but not sure I would do it for 8 hours a day for free.

In Magical Christmas Land where all the dreams come true, these ads give Pixonic a way to monetize every player so they don't have to rely on whales to pay their bills and the pay to win/play schemes are dialed back or are removed entierly.
But I can definitely see Pixonic instead keeping all the pay to win shenanigans and silently, slowly, diminishing silver rewards and increasing upgrade costs to a point where watching ads becomes effectively mandatory if a player hopes to advance.
I'm optimistic about this move by Pixonic, but only because I picked self-delusion as a flaw during character creation to get a bonus feat.

I didn't think it would ever come to this War Robots is kind of unique in this regard in not relying on advertisements, or was anyways, but clearly it's not enough for Pixonic.

Let's hope that by allowing Pixonic to maintain a steady stream of Ad revenue instead of relying on that occasional whale to blow 6 months worth of money will help alleviate the "pay to win" feel this game has. While part of me is screaming at the rest of me to not get my hopes up, I feel this MIGHT motivate Pixonic to focus less on releasing new content, and hopefully more on releasing new maps or bug fixes, and hell, who knows? Maybe it'll draw back some of our fellow YouTubers one day and more new players. A pilot can dream..

I guess it would be a welcome addition. At least its a move that (so far) doesnt have players spending more. Pricing is still highly inflated though.

How do the biggest games in the world, like the NFL, pay their players and owners, ect? Ticket revenue doesn't cover all of it, that is for sure... Sponsorships are the answer, and I outline how the biggest and most successful F2P game in the world does it here: war-robots-forum.freeforums.net/thread/16517/extra-queen-robots-destined-failLeague has no ads and gives no advantages for buying content. Yet League makes billions. War Robots just makes millions.

So a 5 day level 12 upgrade would take 4.5 hours of videos, assuming they’re 30 second ads and it takes 15 seconds in between for loading. That also doesn’t account for the time it takes you to switch google accounts too.
