Have a PDB Griffin and a DB Griffin. Really like the PBD but didn't care for the RBD and the DB seems to be fodder for Aphids and PBD bots before it gets in range. Was wondering if anyone has tried a hellfire Griffin and if it was more viable.
Hellfire= Mag+Ork

The most deadly is having a solid platform to pilot and a pilot that knows how to run it deadly.

The mags on a Hellfire Griffin don't give you anything except a temptation to stand in the open too long and die. If you want plasma, go full plasma. At least on a rhino they let you keep doing damage while the shield is up.
Orkan/aphid Griffin is nasty. Easy to rack up kills and damage on maps with a lot of cover. They're like wolves. Don't wander too far from the protection of the herd, or the Griffins will get you......

Maneuverability plus fast damage inflicting capacity is awesome. How is this better than a Ork/Pinata Griffin? Seems like the Pinatas would do more damage, and you have to aim the Orks anyway. Going to try it, but it seems counterintuitive.

You can top fire the Aphids a few times before pouncing. It's more versatile with the same punch. One Can't Jump lob Aphids with a straight Death button Griff. A DBG is a straight LOS in your face knife fighter. As well, Straight rockets must be lead at distance with too many missing. Don't need to lead the Aphids much when done right.

In practice the aphids do a lot more damage, because you can use them effectively much more often than the pinatas.

Also when you're in the air coming down on your opponent the Aphids have less arc and travel...Sides, it's scary as s#it!!! The Griff is the Arc angel with bolts from the sky.

Griffin with Orks and Aphids rock. Mags and Orks - I'm toying with... I finally succumbed to the Aphid madness last week. Up to that point I had 1 Aphid, I liked the challenge of LOS & used all rocket types. I had seen a Griffin with them & decided to give it a try! I like the combo alot myself! I really am an Orkan fan, I put them on my Hellfire Rhino. Trying that out. I like the accuracy nerf because I am used to LOS firing & its the pinata with a little arc. My favorite move is an 'overhead-crossover-death-spiral' landing just behind my prey as it crumples to the ground - destroyed! Death-From-Above

I wish Aphids hit jumping bots better The upside is you can hit them at the top of their jump or right after they land with perfect accuracy, since they can't move.

I assume that if you are trying to aim (lead) orkans at near 300m at the same time as firing magnums that they would be aiming at two different places?
Haven't noticed this as an issue with a hellfire rhino as generally the orkans fire a 'lot' closer than the magnums.
It just doesn't seem like a great platform.

From a guy who runs a straight jump hanger. If you time a Cossack/Rog/Griff landing...for 1 sec The jumpers can not move upon landing. All missiles will hit.

Personally I liked the orkan + aphids better than any other combos I tried, including aphids/Taran and magnum/orkans.

I've seen a lot of jumpers start moving as soon as they land these days. Spoils the effect.

There is a trick to avoiding the 1 sec landing pause,,,but you have to time it perfect. Nick an edge on the way down ..like a roof or slope. Seems to bypass the delay.
