I don't think you are using the Galahad right. You can not rely on the shield - it does get broken. it is quick with the shield down. Learn to corner shoot, learn to strafe and run sideways or backwards. Learn which way to turn so the shield absorbs aphids. Most importantly choose your opponent. Your worst enemy (plasma Galahad) is another Galahad. It's all about the opponent. If you go against an unshielded plasma bot (like Plasma Gep), then brickfighting is the right approach with the Galahad: The shield will absorb all the damage until it breaks, and it takes some time before that happens. As for guns, the shield absorbs a good part of the damage from Molots and Punishers, but doesn't hold long against Thunders. But otherwise I agree. The Galahad is not a tank - it isn't as fast as the small bots either, but fast enough to cap beacons while packing a lot of punch. I was thinking about rigging an Orkan/Pinata Galahad, just to see how it performs. Corner shooting with minimal exposure...

Excellent advice so far, looks like a Gala is a good spend. No reason to save for a Lance before getting a Galahad right? I wouldn't. Lance is nice, but knowing what I know now, I'd go galahad first all day long. You will want one eventually, but there's a lot of things to know and master on your galahad. Practice practice practice. I got a thunder orkan lance after using galahad for a while, and it is pretty big and kinda slow, but the galahad is fast, trhe shield has great hitpoints, and in my opinion the best overall bot.

Galahad is a solid choice, I bought a Lance and honestly regret it when I compare to my Galahad.

Something to try when you want to have fun and you're using rockets: Sneak up on a heavy and unload on them until a weapon drops or they start smoking (moving slow) then just leave and go cap beacons or find another victim. They'll never catch you lol

Agreed, altho I really want to try the ancilot, plasma or orkans, idgaf, but it would really mess with my hanger right now, and my hangar is pretty sweet and balanced so I've been really reluctant to change until I get more options open to compensate. But yeah, galahad ftw! I should level my 2nd up .......

Although I've always wanted to toy with mags/orkan too. Seems good but I do love me my plasmahad.

I have read 4 of your posts in the last few minutes and don't understand any of them. In the slightly surrealistic zany madcap humour direction.

I just started using a lvl9 Galahad in high gold. Lvl 12 mag's with lvl 11 taran. It saved my butt today in capturing the 18 beacons I needed to collect for daily task. Still needs some upgrades done to better withstand attacks from heavies and maybe a tweak with the weapons choices. But it sure seemed to be useful for me today on all the maps. I rarely park my Leo, put maybe it will will be in short term parking for the time being.
Just my observation, take it with a grain of salt, ignore it, or gain some insight. Choice is yours.

More posts I made, more people would never understand. greetings, pistachio, will retire on 9/15/23 edit : it's a joke. I don't retire, I post things not really related to war robots. Doesn't make the Gep stronger than the Griff. You'll encounter a lot of Orkans in higher tiers, and they make quick work of a Gareth.

Done that many times. And,.......I play the higher tiers, so rockets are nothing new. I like the Gep, but its not quite the little demon it used to be.

In my opinion, Gary should not be played the same way as a Gala. Despite the similar appearance, those 2 bots have diff roles, and hence should be piloted with diff style. This is why I don't agree with "Gary is not strong enough" - this is not based on the appropriate measure of strength. He is not meant for going head on w reds and shield is not meant for tanking it out. If Gala is a battlefield coordinator, Gary is more of a covert in-and-out special ops guy. His "strength" is in speed and agility, and you should be using him for creative maneuvering and situational tactics. Watch Lloyd LeMar's YT vid (link below). If it appeals to you, give him a try. Otherwise, Gala is def a tried and tested universal soldier (I run 2 in my main hangar)

Thanks to your suggestions, I got a Galahad. It's only lvl 6 now but I see great potential.
Due to the number of other shield bots (rhinos, knights, even spiders), I find that ork/mags combo work better for me than all plasma. He's pretty fragile if going up against another gala so having splash definitely helps.

Some people just aren't smart enough to tell the difference between light and medium bots.

The issue is people see the shield and think "wow this is the best!" not thinking about the weaknesses of light robots.

I'd say that with the recent speed buff, gareth is much more useful than before. However, I'd still get a galahad first.

Galahad - even after the Gareth speed buff and Galahad shield nerf the Galahad has the right mix of speed - firepower - survivabilty to capture and hold down beacons while still quickly getting to teammates who need assistance.

a light robot with a shield is good for beacon and surviving sniper shots, but little else. light robots are usually hit and run, and the shield kinda helps, but it is not designed for elongated fights.

He is a great ambusher. I spend a lot of time flanking while red is engaged and with a plasma or orkan, pinata this guy can seal the deal. I try to avoid head to head without some cover. Ancilot is amazing. I have one setup with dual orkans and I can literally tie up 2 or 3 reds for a minute and a half before they take me down. This is a great distraction bot and beacon defender. With rush it is also great to cap that 3rd beacon in a highly contested area to get the win. Gal is somewhere between the two and an overall great support bot. Surprisingly survivable and packs a punch. I think comparing one to the other is kind of pointless...very different roles.

I'm beginning to enjoy the Galahad. I now use it to capture a couple of beacons, per game and it has surprised me at it's durability in the first round of my game. It took some getting used to use the shield properly, so I can maintain the speed. I have gotten good at running backwards on some of the maps, so I can still be protected and have the speed. Big DB Griffin are a pain. But with the maneuverability of it, I have been able to duck and come out firing and take them down using the shield and speed of it. Big problem is 2 bots show up and I can't defend myself then. I have just under 38 hours until it levels up to 11. Running lvl 11 Taran, and 2 lvl 12 mag's. Have thought about an Orkan as medium hardpoint, I have an extra one sitting somewhere. Glad the snowflakes fell right when I opened that chest.
I like it so much that I pulled the trigger and bought one for my Android platform. it is upgrading now probably same weapon, but it will lvl 8 bot and lvl 9 weapons to go with my existing lineup. Going to use it for same reason.
I have a Gareth, just not sure it would be viable in HG/TT games. I have a Stalker and I can see the point made in previous post by satmaster728, But I have never like my Stalker. Impulse buy from seeing in the wild.

Thks for that, and your idea about using the shield well is right on. The best way to win with bot is using the shield right.
