That is the question. Whether tis noobler in the mind to suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous matches, and by opposing, end them...
I have meched out in matches that were obvious losses from the first drop. I've also watched on the sidelines while the remaining 2 - 3 teammates spend their time hiding.
Hint: You can't shoot anything cowering in the corner sucking your thumb and cradling your worn out binkie in the hopes you'll somehow survive the onslaught. Your bots are going to die, so do SOMETHING ELSE!
I may lose, but I'm going out guns blazing. Why? Because that last suicidal run for damage may very well earn me some positive league points. Facing a one-on-one showdown is preferable to waiting to get nailed by two or more reds converging on your position.
Conversely, running out to get shot at when you're the last blue bot standing, with the lead and 30 seconds on the clock for a win ain't the answer.
End rant.

What a conundrum. Hide. Run and hide if it meant the win. Let me clarify this by adding "in squad".
When soloing I'd probably try to max my damage like you mentioned in OP. It depends too. Sometimes you get really good MM in solo matches and in that case I'd hide for the win.

Please do, that way you can move up the ranks and get clobbered by even more overpowered hangers while I go down a few points and hopefully get some relief.

Still moving up... and down... and up again in Expert. Unless I run into some MKII folks I won't be outgunned.
