Anyone else watching tonight fight between USA vs Japan? Megabot vs Suidobashi
The Megabot, Eagle Prime, weighs in at 12 tons (24,000 pounds), is 16 feet tall and can seat two pilots. The machine is powered by a 430 horsepower V8 LS3 engine and costs $2.5 million, according to the company. It will battle one of Suidobashi's Kurata robots that, according to PC Mag, weighs 6.5 tons and is about 13 feet tall. When responding to MegaBots' initial challenge two years ago, Suidobashi CEO and founder, Kogoro Kurata had said his team couldn't let another country win because giant robots were part of Japanese culture.

I'm too old for twitch. I don't do facebook or that tweety-bird thing either. I probably wont even watch it on YouTube (that site I can understand). What's that other icon there?

The significant other tried to get me to watch this, and by her accounts I was more than justified in avoiding it. The pilots were so afraid of hurting each-other that they held back to an absolutely comical degree. There was also supposedly evidence that it was scripted as well.
Reportedly the entire twitch chat was raging. At least with pro-wrestling it looks like they are genuinely pummeling each-other.

Totally expected. The only way to win a robot fight whether it is a real one or anime is to kill the pilot. If they can't do that, then it should have been remotely controlled.

I think I kept skimming around looking for the "good parts" waaay to long.
Oh well. The idea is cool.

I thought it was pretty neat. Granted, a remote controlled battle would have been more vicious and satisfying. I would definitely like to see another battle.

I really enjoyed it. Even if it wasn’t what everyone was expecting, it was still cool!
