I had the daily task to kill 4 robots in a single battle for 40 Au. Ok I thought, it'll happen. But it wasn't. I kept getting matched with some really heavily armed reds and getting zapped. Often someone would steal my kills at the last second - ok I've done that enough not to be sulky about it.
But after about 10 games with the best I could manage was 3 kills I swapped out the task using a free replacement point and got liberate 13 beacons. Ok I thought, I can get there over a day or two even though in beacon rush that is a pretty hard task to complete.
Next game - I could bang my head on the desk - 5 kills and 4 beacons!
So I am 1/13 of the way to 30 Au rather than having 40 Au in the bank already.
Almost as bad as the time when cleaning my screen I accidentally paid 15 Au to change a task I had 90% completed.
I wish there was an undo button or a confirm step for purchases. But it's only a game - right?

I know the feeling. The latter instance has happened far too many times i would like to admit. Sheer carelessness!
Another time, I had a beacon capping task with light bots. Had only a stalker back then. Couldn't get it done for the life of me. I had to switch it out for another and i got some crappy WSP task instead.
I got a squad invite immediately thereafter. After we were done with the squad run, i come back to check my daily tasks and i completed that stupid task! That was a horrible feeling. There should be 'no thanks' button next to 'collect reward' too.

The way these games play out sometimes, you'd swear MM puts you in situations where it's the most difficult to complete whatever it is you're trying to complete. Last game of the 5-game challenge to reach a league level = matched against a champion squad. Need to liberate enemy beacons, you get Yam and Springfield. Need wins, either for the daily tasks or the extra 30k silver, you get put on crap tanker teams. Need a lot of damage, you get matched against superior hangars. Put in long-range bots, you get dropped on Moon, Valley and Dead City. Put in short-range bots, you get Yam, Canyon and Springfield.
My favorite, though, is when you get a task that doesn't favor your hangar, like kill 80 enemies with a light bot in one game and all you have are heavies in your hangar, so you switch tasks and get capture 400 beacons with a medium bot, so you switch again and get kill 80 enemies with a light bot again.

In general, if the 40 Au task is possible it is worth keeping around for a couple of days. Eventually you will get it, try or not.

Yes - I didn't realize you could have old tasks incomplete and still get two new ones. Now I read the FAQ on tasks I won't be so quick to switch them when they seem difficult. I often score 4 or 5 kills even with my mediocre hangar, but this day it just wasn't happening so I changed it.

Hang onto those 40 au tasks. You can have up to 5 daily tasks on your list. Not that au is worth much these days, but I still like seeing it accumulate, and the 40s grow my stash just a little better.

I'm saving for slot 5 - so gold is - well like gold to me.
Having a lot of tasks on the list at once is actually better, now I think about it, because you have a good chance 2 will overlap and you can be completing them both at once.
I am over it now BTW.
