I got my 5th slot, finally, and working on my next gold purchase. I only have 1 orkan, but really want to get a Galahad to replace my MagGep in when I choose to move to Gold.
Opinions?

Galahad PDB works great, so I'm going to vote for Galahad. That or use your existing Orkan on a Gareth. Totally different playstyle (ambush) but you might like it.

I know that I'll need at least 2 orkans at some point, but the Galahad is calling. I'm thinking I'll get the Galahad and then save for Orkan#2

Orkans. As in plural.
I understand the lure of the Galahad (I have 2), but you may find the consensus among the most experienced players is that it makes more sense to get the weapons you need, level them to whatever tier you're using them for, then get the bots.
This is just in a general sense. Orkans are useful on any bot capable of equipping them, in every tier. Especially in multiples. Of course if you're looking to build that plasma Galahad and you already have the gear, then by all means. You won't regret the Galahad purchase.
Just my two pennies.

It became useful eventually when Wiklings (the iOS wiki silver/feeder clan) was put up, but at the time it didn't make sense to spend so much gold for what wasn't my main hangar. So, Orkans would be the better purchase from a logical, long-term perspective, but if you really want that Galahad, go for it. All I'd suggest is you don't upgrade it right away so you can play around with it and see what works in lower tiers. |

I'm late to the party... but I liked my Gala so much I got another... However, If I am honest... I still won't go to a match without at least 2 bots that have an Ork equipped. Even with hindsight, that is a tough choice... but as far as winning matches are concerned, I'd have said the Ork. But, I love my Galas! Again, tough choice, but I don't think you will be disappointed no matter which way you went.

I know the Taran/Mag set up is popular and can do more damage, but I like the splash damage that the Orkan delivers. If you are itching to get a bot, do as heishiro suggests, if you have patience, get the 2nd Ork. |

Definitely better to have 4 Orkans early. The Galahad is good but certainly a place lower on the purchase priority as per the Wikia link

I must confess I only have 2 orkans and those are on a rhino.
Happy with my usual lineup:
Rhino (orkan/mag), RDB Griffin, Plasma Griffin, Carnage (thunder/trident), and a plasma Galahad. Despite conventional wisdom, I've not felt handicapped not having an extra set of orkans. I could replace the RDB Grif with pinatas/orkans but I'd lose mid range.I play randoms always so I do need to vacillate between knife fighting and mid range.
For now I'll hold off on orkans till I get close to getting a Lancelot (darn, they're slow though...)
Caveat: This is my opinion and this may not work for you so safer to follow recommendations on this wiki.

It is unlikely that you wil regret buying Orkans. Unsexy compared to a new 'bot, but the smart play at the end of the day.

If you have to ask this question then the answer is almost certainly that you do not have enough Orkans.

To answer the topic, weapons before bots always. Without good weapons, especially in gold tier, having good bots doesn't really make a difference.
So in short, Orkans first, at least 2 before moving for gold bots. I just had my 3rd and 4th Orkan, and now it's more viable vs shield bots.

Surprisingly, it didn't move me up a tier, and most opponents are running plasma. Of course I'm ripping them apart.

Very nice. Yeah it's quite a good package all around, tough and well balanced bot. Personally I love it when you're marching across Canyon or Shenzhen and the Treb users pelt you with a full charge and they see your damage meter not move...even a little. |

I was planning on moving up soon, anyways. I've got a stalker, rhino, Carnage, 2 Griffins & Leo in storage. My guns just aren't strong enough yet.
