I think I've reached the peak of MY mountain. I have been playing a meta hangar for the past couple of weeks to see how far I could take it. Fairly normal, 3xGriff, 2xCarnage lvl8 hangar and I am 5 matches away from qualifying for D2 in Android. Considering how I am currently scoring, I figure I can take it about halfway through D2 but I don't really see the point to continuing If I no longer wish to advance. I have no desire to level up my bots as I really have no desire to go up to Expert/Masters/Champions. Already I am getting pulled into matches with experts and masters. I even got pulled into a match with a squad of champs once. Nope, don't want any of that noise.
I am getting tired of the meta hangar, I miss my light bot hangar and honestly, I am tired of grinding for Ag.
I am comfortable with my hangar but it is getting boring. Basically, just go out and smash things. And it (my hangar) is really good at smashing things. RDB, DB, PDB and 2xThunder Carnage, and I am generally in the top three on either side of the match. Unfortunately, as you can see, my hangar is pretty specialized. And if I desired to maintain my current standing it'd be more of the same. Yes, I could easily build an Ancilot to "mix things up" a bit but really? an Ancilot? No thanks. They're exactly the reason I don't want to be in the higher leagues.
I think the most fun I had, besides the crazy heady days of when BR was introduced, was when I had a lvl5 light bot hangar down in Silver. IIRC, Silver2 was the sweet spot where lvl5 light bots, off the shelf weaponry and my piloting skills were competitive without being OP. I'd like to go that again, but maybe mix it up with some medium bots like a Boa or Patton. Yep, I did not play ANY medium bots until I got my Carnage and that wasn't until Gold1 when my light hangar just couldn't cut it anymore.
So where do I go from here? I don't want to go up anymore. I can't stay where I'm at. I mean I could try it, but I'd fall down with off the shelf weaponry anyways. Only direction to go is down. So rather than just tank all the way down and risk LQ, I figured I'd play some of the more....annoying(?) builds on the way down and see where (if!) I settle anywhere.
I have a Zenit/Nori Tasha just waiting to go. <-- really want to see if this "settles" anywhere.
I have tons of Gekkos from events to go on...something! Maybe a Stalker.
I have a Fujin and one hydra from some event. Going to get two more hydras and spam people. Or maybe just do a Spydra.
I have a Golem from an event that I have no idea what to do with.
And then there's the old destrier sitting at lvl3....Nori Nori? Spirals?
What other troll builds are there? Y'know something that annoys the hell out of the Reds, and probably the Blues as well?
See you on the way down!

I felt the same way once. Its a game, if you're not having fun, then it's not a game anymore.

I have 5 slots, 12k Au, 12k WSP, 7M Ag on this account. I don't feel like I should have to start a new account just cause I want to play different level bots. I mean my pilot name is awesome! Plus I would completely forget my login creds if it weren't permanently on this phone, lol.

I am currently at the edge of Android D1 and E3, with hangar level about "9.2". I would say the MM is ok. I wouldn't be afraid to take your hangar to level 9.
Then just keep upgrading different bots and weapons to that 9. Hydra Fujin. Aphid "pothead" Leo. Gecko Patton. Tempest-Molot Lancelot. Endless amount of interesting setups.
A time may come when you want to make a push for higher leagues. Or not.

Then just play the fun bots you enjoy playing, and let the losses pile up. You'll move down in rank, but you shouldn't get stuck in LQ as long as you play each match out.

The advantage of staying at or around level 8 is that new stuff is still reasonable to upgrade. So take advantage of it! Buy a Rhino, or a Rogatka, try out Punishers. Or Noricums. Or make a Disco Leo. Or Aphid Stalker. Or something else.
Once you have a number of bots at 8 (not just 3 Griffs and two Carnages) and a set of basic weapons at 8 (Tarans, Orkans, etc.) it gets even easier, as many parts of a new build are already there and you only need to upgrade, say, two new weapons.
So I understand your point but I don't quite understand the question. If you enjoy experimenting with stuff, the possibilities are numerous. If you don't, and also don't want to rise in leagues, maybe it's time for another game?

I guess you are not a paying user, not even the premium. I think your situation is similar to my 2nd account: diamond1.ios, 8.5/8, not paying a cent. level 8 is where I see the Ag grind starting. and it's difficult to keep upgrade busy without the premium, when I play just as much to clear daily tasks (and some more when wife not watching ) these days. so far I have been enjoying a few new setups I haven't used in the first life: TT Boa, TP Leo, Punisher Griffs, and most recently a Rhino. last week, I finally gathered enough Au to buy two Orkans and busy learning the DB-like Rhino. today I bought a Carn, mostly because I don't want to keep the upgrade idle while grinding for those 3M Ags needed for 8 -> 9 non-Au light weapons. I may also buy one of four-leggers - wsp aplenty and my workshop even yet reached the max level. I also wonder what next. ... should I level more varieties to level 8, staying in D2~D1, or focus upgrade to selected sets and move on to expert. ... I guess I will stay at D2~D1, so that I can squad with clanmates from time to time. hopefully, silver chests can bring sth new (a tempest would be nice),

hon_shu: Unfortunately light bots are not viable for me in this league. Bottom half of Gold1 was about as far as I could take my light bot hangar and they were on average lvl9 already.

tactically the game is much different higher up. Form a tactical perspective it is superior and a different experience. the only issue higher up is that at first you will be outgunned and need to improve your hanger a lot. and while in the improvement phase you will be in constant high pressure games and you will be spanked big time rather frequently in situations where you cant do anything besides learn from the experience. the other problem at the moment are those damned dashes. unless you can afford them/willing to buy them. they are simply OP and unbalanced the game (IMO).
The LQ doesn't exist anymore. But if you are not having fun I reckon the first thing to do is put your device down for a week and see how you feel after that. If you continue despite wanting to play than some part of the game got you hooked. Gaming addiction is a real thing and human behaviourists work within the development team to achieve that outcome. Like slot machine designers.

shakingrabbit I am completely simpatico, brother. In D3 on Android, desperately trying not to cross into D2 so I can keep playing my non-meta fun hangar. And you're right, once you hit Diamond that becomes very difficult to do. I'm hoping that keeping everything 9/9 will help me maintain my current position, but that is looking less and less likely, as I continue to rise. We'll see. In the meantime, I agree with everybody else. Play the hangar you want, and you'll sink to your natural level. Also, I'd encourage you to reconsider the second account idea. Because I was feeling exactly the way you are - bored out of my skull with the firetrucking Griffins, et al. - I started a second account for just light and medium bots. Got 4 slots and leveled all my bots to 6/6. So far, it's been way more fun than my main account. Have risen to Silver II and expect to stop somewhere around Silver I/Gold III. About your concerns, yes, it's a bit of a pain to start over, but much less than you might expect. Since you're keeping your bots relatively low-level, it's pretty fast and easy to grind all the Ag you need (especially with one month of premium). And then the grind is over. You don't need a ton of Au. Just 1k to get the 4th slot, and you can use the rest for assorted weapons and light/medium bots as it piles up - which it does quickly. Switching between your accounts also is very simple and does not require you to juggle log-in credentials. Just add a second account to your Google Play or iOS and then add it to War Robots. Each time you log into the game, it will ask which account you want to use. Click the one you want and you're in. Then, if you want to switch again, just log out and hit Connect again. A pop-up will ask if you want to sync account and local data. Tap OK. It's that easy. Hope this helps

Sooo...I stopped playing for a week or ever since I last posted, whenever that was to see how I felt when I came back, and...
Yep! Going down!
1) I can barely play. Literally. Lag for me is intense now. I've dropped out of sooooo many games because of the lag. If not, I just stand there with a circle going round and round and next thing I know I have to pick a new bot. I suspect it's a server overload type of thing.
2) NOT creating another account. Sure, it seems easy enough to switch accounts I guess. But with the crazy lag I'm getting PLUS all the resources I have in this one, why bother?
3) its a principle-of-the-thing I guess. Why am I forced to create a 2nd account to play the same game when I could just go down or if the MM could scale properly? Pix obviously doesn't care. They could easily fix the problem and eliminate at least half the tankers/faders while they were at it. Why do I need to care more than they do?
Great advice all!
It's been surprisingly hard to even get back to Gold1 with a light bot hangar, partly because I can't get into matches because of server issues but also because the MM is sooo tenacious. It's trying to get me on a win streak now.
