Should War Robots implement a realistic walking animation as shown in Battle of Titans? The walking shown in BoT looks really janky as if the robots are drunk, but I do appreciate the dedication to real world physics.

Personally, I really don't even want to compare the two games beyond that they both use Mechs and are in an arena. Some good points to both. War Robots needs to stay simple, apparently, because even as it is we can't get a lag free game on an 80-100 MBs connection with modern dual band routers and decent to good devices. Fix the dang servers... then worry about physics. My .02.

Personally I think the "drunken swag" is a nice feature of realistic physics. In War Robots the bots' towers are completely stiff, regardless of projectile or landing impact. Could be advanced gyro stabilization tho, who knows.

Those games are different. War Robots about capturing beacon and battle of Titans about killing enemy team bot? For me I don't want if War Robots walking animation looks like battle of titans (even if spider bot in battle Titans climb more better than War Robots).

I would like to draw attention to a skirmish that occurs about three minutes into the video, wherein the enemy armies clash in a furious hailstorm of bullets and guided missiles as our hero wades through the fray, brazenly returning fire at apparent little cost to himself. Look at that nonsense. When was the last time any of us were able to waltz into a battle that furious and walk away without the lion's share of our HP missing? Battles in War Robots are always way too dangerous and fast-paced to really savor. Bots, be they friend or foe, last few seconds against a merciless barrage of rockets and plasma and it just isn't fun, y'know? Well, maybe some people find it fun but I really rather wish I could unleash my inner Rambo without fear of my innards being unleashed all over the floor.

Does War Robots incorporate inverse kinematics? Because I think BoT does have IK.

It certainly is a blast to play, thats for sure. They need a wider variety of weapons though.

But I do appreciate you giving us a look at the game by posting this.

I've been waiting for Dredd77 to cut the ribbon on the BoT forum. Have plenty of videos. I like that they're different in action. I won't replace War Robots with BoT. I'll enjoy both.

Personally i do like a LOT how exapods are animated in BoT. Their movement feels a lot symmetrical and natural.
On the other hand i really don't like the "SKELETON" of 2 legged bots.
What i mean for Skeleton, it's the collection of all the "joints" in the bot, and how they work. Specifically i don't like how the Hip works.
In War Robots the hip is fixed, it can't go up and down, it can't rotate on an horizontal axys, and the only movement it can do is a rotation in the vertical axys, aligned with the direction of the movement.
In Bot the hips instead have 2 more axys of movement. they can go up and down, depending on the terrain, and they can rotate on horizontal axys (with a very limited degree, but noticeable)
this gives a way too flexible movement, which seems "drunk". Personally i would reduce both the up and down, and the horizontal axys rotation to give a more stable and sturdy feel.
my 2 cents, ymmv.

Ok, I'm way to lazy now, but someone with basic knowledge in dynamics could approximate the mass that would match the wobble/specific frequency. For me the intensity (high frequency) of this wobble would suggest a machine in size of roughly "big dog" (by Boston Dynamics)...in other words a thing 1m tall, not a 30m monster. For machine in size of Mech, such jerky moves would not occur due to basic limitations of physics (which this wobble is attempting to mimic). Dynamic reactions resulting from walking would be waaay smoother; even tiny, undeveloped walking machines nowadays can compensate it better.
