Should I buy a 5th slot or a Lancelot, since they're both good and I've got 5000 gold.
I could save up until 10,000 gold, but that takes too long. Any other opinion?

I'd personally say the 5th slot. Having a 5th slot will give you more utility than a Lancelot. With the recent rocket buff, you probably want an ancile for when you get your Lancelot. I'm in Silver 1 / Gold 3 usually, so I don't see many Lancelots, but the ones I do see tend to die rather nastily on most maps. RDB Griffins are basically hell with a jump pack for non-Ancile Lancelots if the Griffin pilot has room to manoeuvre.

go for 5th slot. no regret.
if your target is to join a clan and have some squad battle, or you want to climb the league, then 5th slot is a must.
if you have no target, play for fun, no worries about league, go for Lance

5th slot before Lance.
As 5th slot cannot be nerfed, you'll never regret you've bought it. Can't say the same about Lancelot.
On top of that, there's a bunch of other good reasons why to do so, can be found in Forum history.

What do you want to achieve? 5h slot will be decisive in many games, and allow you to rise in leagues. However, if you spend time upgrading one more bot while rising in leagues at the same time, you will quickly be teamed with blues who out-damage you simply due to higher weapon levels.
If you use real money to get Au, then 5th slot. It's most bang for the buck.
If you must fight for your gold, then 5th slot is likely to reduce your Au income (due to rising to level where other blues have higher level weps than you, so top damage is hard to achieve), while a Lance is likely to increase Au income (in a timeframe of... let's pull a number out of my ?bum-bum?... 2 months).
OTOH, consider how much of your Au comes from battle rewards, and how much comes from daily missions. 5th slot will make some daily missions easier (the "in single battle" missions especially). So if reward gold is not much now, 5th slot will not hurt much... If you have trouble playing enough to complete daily missions now, then 5th slot is good.
However I would not get a Lance in any case. I'd get Orkan Rogatka (if you don't have one yet), then save for 5k again and decide again. But this is playstyle decision. Lance is certainly powerful.

i think right now 5th slot has become again an imperative to buy before anything else.
5 slots lets you use Counter Bots.
Lancelot is a great bot, but remember it will take a LOT of time to make it usable.
Being heavy, it requires a lot of time, it becomes really usable at lvl 7-8.
Also you need 2 high lvled med weapons (i would say at LEAST lvl 9)
and 1 Ancile (the higher the better, you might want to bring it to 11).
If you aren't ready with all the stuff, you could end up buying a lancelot and have it sit
in storage for 2 weeks before being usable.
On the other hand, a 5th slot is the way to go now, it lets you differentiate your hangar,
putting some specific roles inside, like rockets, light bots, making you able to react better
to what enemies have fielded.

Especially with the recent rhino buff, 5th slot is the biggest priority followed by lots of orkans.
Wsp can get you a great tank bot and a great glass cannon.
