So what nostalgic video game would you mix into War Robots?
Mine is Mario Kart. On the maps - Dead City is fast but watch out for the fiery pit in the Canyon, Bowser...er Rhino.
By the way - apologies for the daft thread. No Beacon Rush on iOS UK server so I lack the ability to contribute sensibly to most of the current threads at the moment...

War Robots for me feels like a game somewhere between Mechwarrior and Overwatch.

Candy Crush.
Or My Little Pony. Sing the song in your head, "My Little Pony, Apocalypse Pony".

How about Q Bert? have a mountain of cubes that jumping robots have to navigate. Or Pong. Put ecu's on the Cossack/Destrier/Stalker/Gareth. Arm a couple of heavies with a paddle and "pong away".

Aah Q Bert? Wow that is a long time ago. I might go for Body Harvest on the N64... Mind you a Gareth would make a good Link from Zelda with a max level Orkarina of Time...

When I started playing this game, I was winding down from binging on Toy Defense: Fantasy. Now, when I play too much of anything too close to bed time, I'll frequently wake up several times in the middle of the night thinking about that game. When I started this game, of course there was the requisite binging into the very late hours, because I just needed that little extra Au or one more win to the next level or that upgrade I'd almost done, or whatever. There were a couple of those nights that I woke up ruminating about my robots lumbering across Toy Defense maps lining up and teeing off on the parades of baddies that game runs at you and what weapons would work best against the different waves. It was a bit bizarre, but it could make for an interesting, non-PvP game mode.

We just need a green paint job for the Gareth and a green cap for the head.

Also Combat Desert Storm or a sequel. You switched between all four specialists in your squad. Deploy as required - give orders to defend, assault. The save game system was hard on this one - made it a really exciting game to play.
The final release for the PS3 went MEH! Sadly...

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series. It is a Slav-made game, after all.
If you consider 2007 to be long enough ago for nostalgia, that is.
