Not so much a rant as trying to understand the game better. Started playing yesterday and have achieved level 15. My hangar consists of a: Level 2 GI Patton w/ 4 level 4 Punishers Level 2 Cossack w/1 level 5 Tulumbus Level 3 Schutze w/1 level 5 Thunder Have a 4th hangar but it's empty. Currently in Private League I With that said, I find myself in matches where some of my opponents and teammates are level 24-30 running bots like Leos, Griffons, Galahads, Raijin, etc. with major firepower (Tarans, Magnums, Geckos, etc). I can't even buy my first heavy (Griffon level 16) for my empty 4th hangar yet. Why is my low level crew thrown into these types of matches? Opponent's screenshot below my stats.

This is a bit of a loaded question. In short, the match maker (MM) determines who your teammates and opponents are for each match, base on things we know and probably things only Pixonic knows. But Damage delt is a big factor. Skilled pilots often perform better than their gear and subsequently face other pilots with higher level bots and weapons. Take it as a compliment of your skills.
There's is a wealth of info about the MM in this forum, but note it has changed a lot in the last 6 months so the more recent the thread the more accurate the info.
There is also the Wiki that has great info to tap - as well as a separate site created and curated by some forum members with blog posts noting the experience of moving up the ranks with stats on what bots are seen at various levels (https://mechspectrum.com).
TLDR: the game is just giving you a more challenging experience by matching you against higher level players.

I have 22 victories under my belt. Opponent has 560 Thanks for the reply.

The MM is squaring you against, from my experience, a particular Player on the opposing team.
If you check the after action report, you should, more oftern than not, find an opposing Player of similar equipment.

So, one player on the opposing team may have similar gear/experience/level as I do, and that plays into the MM system? I bet that guy is just as irritated by it as I am. I understand matching up pilot skills to keep the game flow fair, but sheesh, this seems a little (a lot) extreme. Thanks for the reply.

The MM doesn't seem to understand that the one high level/experienced Player is capable of mopping the floor with everyone else. Which puts you at a disadvantage. But each Player should have their own nemesis ..

But as said above, there is usually a range of different leveled players in a match. A 1k win player probably shouldn't be playing against level 15 players, but such is life sometimes. What you can try do is turn a positive out of it - see if there are any tricks you can pick up from higher level players. There might not, but maybe you can at least see some of the weapons you havnt used yet and think about how you can eventually utilize them.

I think sometimes this has to do with the number of available pilots joining games at the time. If there's a deep pool on the server, the MM does a decent job. If it's shallow, it gets "desperate" and tries to match across leagues and hangar weights to get some semblance of balance. I will note, though, that I have been experiencing the "shallow" matches a lot more the last 2 weeks.

It's still early in the game for you. Stick to beacon capping and bot shadowing for now. Find the closest blue and stay BEHIND him. Leos are a good for this cause you can easily keep up with a Leo and not pass him.

The league system is awful. I miss the old MM based on hangar strength. When you could use different mechs and weapons and actually have a variety of play.

What os is your device on? Android If that is the case, I am actually surprised you saw that so early. My experience has been that mismatches that early were either the FB or Amazon server... My 2nd Android account was after the MM change, but has been a few months now since I was that low, but it didn't see stuff quite that bad... Dang... I see that type of mismatch on the FB server a lot, and as long as I can get beacons and shoot some peeps, I end up doing ok. Mostly because until very recently even the Masters had level 5 and 6 weapons since it is so new. In Android servers though... more likely to be tankers with high level weapons. I would let Pix know what you are seeing... tbh.

this kinda sucks for new players ... at least with seal clubbing Gepard clans you knew it was people "playing the system" .. in this case it is the system that is failing
Maybe you have just won too often? MM has decided to smack you down

Look at it as Pix's way of seducing you to part with what's in your wallet.
