Hey Folks, Got asked if I was a robot before I could register here. Found that a bit ironic... haha Been playing a couple of days, and I have a couple questions I couldn't seem to google up answers to. If some veteran player(s) don't mind enlightening me, I'd be obliged.
- If you sell a robot back, do you get what you paid for it? What if you have upgraded its weapons?
- I notice that I actually lose rank points when I use the robot I want to sell back (Natasha). Is this because it tends to be a stand in place and snipe/barrage things without charging around capturing beacons and smashing face? I don't like the play style of this one, and think the Noricum missiles are not the most honorable weapon... Fire blindly at something across the map...woohoo... Some poor Destrier gets nuked 5 seconds into the game. Meh. Anyway, I tried Natasha with Kang Dae upgrades and...wow, now she's AS boring - but only every half hour! (Ok, 15 seconds, but it feels like half an hour.) So...not a fan, would love to get the silver back and put it into something better, not sure I can.
- What would you tell a newbie to help him be an asset when you get stuck with him in your pick-up game? Hopefully not, "Don't hate on Natasha, noob scum!"
Thanks!

No you don't get what you paid for it.
Get a leo. Keep the natasha for the moment - at some point you may have tridents or something to put on it.
Don't waste gold.
Get your fourth and fifth slots.

Thanks, Moody!
Any idea what the percentage back is?
Any thoughts on what makes you lose rank points? Seems silly to build and offer a bot who's required play style is something that gets you penalized...
Got my 4th. The fifth is slightly behind a better bot, but it'll happen. I haven't been running out of mechs much (that's one advantage with Natasha - if I play her...she almost never dies. Well, there was that mistake outfitting her with two Thunders and trying to play her up close and personal.... That didn't work at all).

If your constantly in the top 3 you'll rise, if not you'll fall. Leos and griffins do the trick and will get you far enough so you can save the gold really for the fifth..only thing prior the fifth might be a pair of Orkans..

Some general hints, my opinions.
First of all, the concensus here is, get 5th slot next. And if you want to advance in leagues, that's most bang for the buck. If you spend real money on the game, that's what you should get. BUT if you are playing for free, 5th slot will push you up in leagues with lower level bots than is perhaps good for fun. So my opinion is, indeed get some good gear upgraded before 5th slot.
At the moment, only gold bot worth getting before 5th slot is Rogatka. And even that is a bit dubious. New bots are coming. Nobody knows how things change. Any gold bot you but now might be essentially obsolete, or at least not worth the price, in a month. Or not. Maybe.
But in my opinion you should get a pair of Orkans next. Put them in a Griffin with Pinatas, so called DB Griffin. Definitely worth the investment.
Other suggestions for gear... 5th slot is probably good before any others except Orkan. Then, Gecko or Aphid Patton is ok, or these weapons on Leo (need only 3). Not as much value as 5th slot but not a bad investment. Pair of Geckos works on Natasha too with Nashorns, and pair of Aphids work on Griffin. Getting just 1 is not useful. Other Gold weapons... Definitely not before 5th slot.
Noricums and Zenits are the worst weapons in the game at the moment, and by a large margin... Forget them for now. But don't sell them (unless you have more than 4), as things change in this game over time. Also Kang Dae are not worth it at the moment, lower DPM than Nashorns. Spirals and Hydra are kinda ok, but not recommended if you care about winning, especially not before you have 5 slots.
Natasha has one unique feature: it is cheap and fast to upgrade. So for lower leagues, for example Punisher or Pinata + Thunder equipped on level 9 Natasha is a great close range bot. And with Molots+Nashorn later it is a passable long range bot (better with Geckos and Trebuchets or Zeuses). But generally Leo is a better silver heavy bot.
Also, don't spend Au on upgrades, unless you are going to just buy Au with money... Also spending Au on WSP is dubious... 5 Au/day is ok, but more than that, no.

You lose quite a bit when selling weapons and bots--probably only get 20% of the original value. Bear in mind you only get silver regardless of whether you purchased the bot with gold or WSP.

+1 vote on buying 2xOrkans and putting them on Griffin with Pinatas. +1 vote on Thunder + Pinata or Punisher Natasha. This is a great bot for the beginning, but be prepared that its effectiveness will fade away as you go up the leagues and pilots will become more aware of what's going on (like Android Silver II/I). However, when this happens, you'll switch Thunders to Carnage and Natasha can be used as decent midranger - I'm using Zeus+Molot, also Trident+Pin or Gekko is fun to play. Crucial point about Natasha is to upgrade it to lvl 9 to have the full speed of the bot.

Get the 4th slot as early as possible, but you can wait to get the 5th. I still don't have my 5th, and I don't miss it as I don't even get to play my 4th bot in most of my games. If you have cash/gold to burn, the Gepard with 3 aphids is one of the most fun bots to play in this game. It's fast, and it's so much fun to chuck a huge payload over low buildings and then run like hell back to cover. Forget concepts like honor in this game. There is NONE! Backstab, play cheap, do what you need to. It's all good. Play around a bit with different bots and weapons, but read here for some good tips on bot setups. If you find hanging back with long range weapons boring, then you may have the spirit of a knife figher. Concentrate on bots like the Leo, Golem, Boa and Griffin. Load them up with Punishers for AU weapons, and Tarans and Magnums when you have WSP. The rockets are great but they have a steep learning curve.

These are awesome, thank you!
I am not set on what to spend my slowly accumulating gold on. 5th slot may be the most fun, but I'm good enough (at my level) to not need all four bots about half the time. I am not a super-competitive player (at all). I just like to be competent. If I rise in the process, so be it.
The honor thing is about honoring other people's time. They showed up to have a good time, too. I try not to shoot a bot that seems to be lagged or having technical problems with the map. I don't like skilless missile barrages that there's no real defense against (I don't mind them being in the game, because well...killing the enemy before knows what hit him, and in complete safety, is generally a good thing in war. But, this is a game ;-) I don't take kills personally, and spend the rest of the game trying to hunt That Guy down. It's not better or worse than any other style of play, it's just how I play.
I'll hang onto Natasha for a bit. Still experimenting. The Rog is on my radar, and I'll check out the Leo. The Gephard with three lasers seems like it'd be a 「illegitimate child」! Kinda sexy... Anyone use one?

As far as selling bots back, the return is horrible. Best to just hang onto them in case you change your mind at a later time. Buy, if you do decide you want to unload one because you absolutely hate it, you can unequip all its weapons first and keep them in your inventory.

Keep the Tasha. PUt thunders and punishers on it and wreck people at your level. Down the road you can (as others have said) put Zuess or trident's on it. Or, put two tempests and molots on it. So there are a couple of really, really good options on that. contrary to others...don't spring for a leo now. Spring for a Boa, instead. Faster, and almost as tough. As you level it up, you'll be able to really get a monster medium bot. ONce you get into the Gold1/DiamondIII level, then a Leo will be useful. But until then...a Boa is almost as powerful, almost as tough, and WAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYY faster and agile. And the Griff. Get a griff. Put molots on it and wreck fools all. day. long.

I'm getting the hang of Thunders on Natasha, it just wasn't as good as I'd hoped. It's very situational. If there is time and cover, she can be good. If you drop in the hotzone late game...she dies quickly. Maybe it's because there is no 'Boris'? Yet? haha I will have to look into Tempests...don't remember seeing those.
The Boa I saw the promise of immediately; and ugly though it is - I bought one as soon as I could. It remains one of my favorite. It is an absolute wrecking ball. I like the Griffin very much, and in fact did go all-Malot with it (300 more meters range than the popular Punisher? Can't see why it isn't more common). I'm still clumsy with the jumping, but getting better.
Thanks!

Good advice. I noticed early that folks didn't seem to work together much - but when they did, much better results (predictably). I imagine serious players have audio servers to really coordinate and so forth. The quality of the game in a mobile app is nothing less than shocking. Really enjoyable.
