Just had 2 games where I (my team) was thoroughly trounced - back to back! The cause, freakish teamwork and coordination by the red team. The first game, on the Moon map, the red team just bulldozed through in one giant wave under the bridge, right up into the blue team spawn area. My last 2 bots, i literally lasted 3 seconds each. The game lasted maybe 2 minutes. WTH?? Second game, in Dead City, the red team (smartly) all stayed on their side of the centre beacon killzone. There was an annoying aphid chucker that kept hiding behind his team mates. Once in a while, a bucket head Leo will retake the centre beacon while the red lay down a devastating blanket of fire. And did I mention that quad aphid Patton? I used my last bot, my Rog to purposely target it, and i still couldn't take it out due to the Carnage at my back - yes, lost my temper. Seriously, the game was like those movies of barbarians charging against a line of well armed, well trained, well coordinated team of space marines! And I was one of the barbs!! Is it really possible to get that level of coordination in this game, or was that red team a purpose built squad of teenagers (and pre teens) holed up in a basement somewhere with killer WiFi?

I haven't had any bloodbaths like that in DC, but I have had several on Moon. On checking their stats after the game, they weren't even all in a clan or significantly higher levels than our team, just extremely well coordinated. The way they were able to rush the tunnel of death and decimate blues and cap 4 beacons as I'm leading my 5th bot to slaughter in 3 minutes had me certain there were at least 12 of them. And yes, there was a lot of cussing. I really think it's just a matter of luck getting a team of aggressive and like-minded players like that together for one game.

My guess is what you experienced was a squad on voice coms. These are all tactics we teach in Anarchy and use them frequently for map control. When I form squads for clan battles, I try and make it a point to have my pilots have balanced hangars that will work well with others. Unfortunately, If you are not equally equipped and on voice coms with your team to help direct the battle and find out when people are in trouble it will be very very difficult to compete against organized squads/clans that are and it only gets more like that the higher in the Meta you climb.

Been both on the delivering and the receiving end of those kind of matches. It's great when you drop into Moon map in a tarancilot and find a couple more random blues in ancilots following you through the tunnel. Hulk SMASH! Once dropped into Yam as the lone random with a 5-man squad from clan NOOB. Blitzed the enemy backfield along with bridge with 4 lances and my tempest Leo. And the quarterback is sacked! On the other hand, had my arse handed to me by clan VOX on a couple of occasions. Kinda glad I've never seen my play style (best described as 'Mr. Magoo on heroin') immortalized on Youtube...

I guess it is mostly luck. It is EXTREMELY satisfying to get into spawn kill position in a Gareth with a couple of Leos along for the ride. I just wish it would happen more often for me!

Luck has nothing to do with it.

Luck has nothing to do with it. Sometimes it does. All it takes is two or three smart players staying fairly close, watching each other's backs and going after the same targets to make an average game an extra lot of fun. And when you're playing with all randoms, that takes a bit of luck to find those players. After that, yeah, then it's a matter of playing smart. Every now and then I stumble into another random who jumps in to save my backside from certain death, and I'll make it a point to try to stick with that player for as long as I can, because it's just a whole different experience to go blasting at one, two or even three reds with a teammate blasting away right next to you.

I know what you mean! I had a Rhino bristling with Tulus and Pins, and a random blue running a Thunder Carnage shot at me at the spawn to back him up going for the "alley" beacon in Powerplant. Together we crushed two Griffins with all that boom, my physical shield, and the Ancile on the Carnie. That is textbook teamwork.

I've had a few slaughters in the last week. An entire squad of heavily armed, heavy mechs slaughtered us on several occasions. Team work could have been better but we were totally outmatched by the red team's experience level, and rank though.

Dropped into a match in Dead City with count em, 6 red ancilots bearing down on us. Darn things were like a hydra... kill one, two more show up. We lost. Badly. So bad I didn't break 50k in damage.

Ok, you go with that.

Ok, you go with that. I do. All the time. It's called making your own luck. Because fortune favors the prepared. The untrained and uninitiated label this "luck".

This is a ?firetruck?ing game, not the road to real-life success and wealth. Suit yourself, I've said my piece. Ignore it, learn from it, whatever, it's your terrible "luck", not mine. Pave your own way. I'm out. Cheers and happy hunting.
