After saying I would run Zenits, I ran Zenits tonight and I am a man of my words. I'm in Expert, but you can be sent down to the minors. So my matches were flip flopping between Champion and Diamond 3, but my tier is still same.
This weapon relies on the stupidy of your opponents to do significant damage. I had one match on Dead City, and I killed 2 noob campers hiding around the bowl. Prolly my best match of the night with those weapons.
Then you get Champions and I was waiting all night for camper on Yamantau, so I saw a Butch Treb which are notorious for staying hidden. He wasn't looking my way, so I thought I had a chance to get a couple shots off since I was on reload, but it was wishful thinking.
I tried to use it to kill snipers since everygame lately has seen lots of them, so it's a laser light show. There were 2 snipers hiding behind the farm side of Springfield, so me and a friendly Treb took them out. I do think that's a very effective combination. Again, another good game for my Zenits.
I also tried to use it for reaching knife-fighters that were campers, and hiding behind cover like maps on Powerplant and Moon Map. Usually both those maps have lots of campers so should have been lots of opportunities, like hiding behind the domed observatory or hiding behind the buildings by the hill beacon. This time, no campers and maybe because of me, as they just charged right in. Besides the game on Dead City, no one was camping on these camping maps.
One funny thing is on Yamantau, I was aiming for the support bots in the back. Then I saw a red Ancilot reach centre beacon, and everyone lit him up. My reload had just come back, so I switched targets to the Ancilot, and lit him up good. Prolly my best kill of the night, since he didn't move and wasn't expecting everyone to target him.
Anyways, with all the Gekkos and Molots and Trebs running around, I thought it would be good to take another look at the Zenit. I consider myself an above average Zenit user (don't laugh) since I know some tricks to get more damage and tactics, but I won't reveal them here, so sorry. (I've been burned in the past with nerfing to the Raijin and Fujin after writing a guide and tip respectively). I've actually been waiting for a long time for this day again, and I knew it was a matter time once they buffed the rockets. So the last time I used Zenits, it was the heyday of the TT Fury so this Rocket Age is a little different (more Griffins and Leos with long range). This actually makes it harder to use this weapon this time around, since Griffins have jump and Leos are pretty darn fast.
I even saw a Champion guy using Butch 4x Zenits Level 12. My Fury Zenit is 9/7/7, and I did more damage then him. Zenits do have the damage and DPS, better than my Trebs (3x stock Zenits did more damage than 3x Level 8 Trebs). But right now, even the slowest bot, something like a Fury or Butch can outrun the rockets. Zenits are a fun weapon to use, because at the very least, you know you are annoying a lot of reds with the constant screen shaking like crazy.

I'm in the process of leveling up everything to 6, and will also be doing a set of Zenits. Glad to see someone using them and having some fun and a little effectiveness with them! Very nice read.

I like the Zenits just for the sheer counter-sniper effect. Anyone silly enough to try to post up in Springfield/Yamantau/Canyon with Trebs/Gekkos will get their generous "serving". Come out in the open where the blues can school you, you coward! I'm running a "Nasty Nattie" I got in the summer event with 2 Zenits, a Gekko and a Noricum (until I can win a second Gekko). Nobody likes getting warmed up and sat on with that ol girl. I'm going to start really leveling the Zenits eventually, and I've destroyed a number of bots who got softened up, flushed out of hiding, only to get sliced open by (highly) annoyed blues.

I recently bought a pair of Zenits and am very close to having both @ lvl 8. Then I'll slap them onto my Carnage and start harassing those campers - which is the whole point.

That might be an interesting combo to run, the Natasha with Zenits and Gekkos. You can flush them out with Zenits, and then hit them with Gekkos.

Can you do the same for Noricum's ? They get bad press too I don't really like Noricums. They are cluster bombs, and effect a large area. You need to hit at least 2, or even 3 bots every time to do any damage with these weapons.

That might be an interesting combo to run, the Natasha with Zenits and Gekkos. You can flush them out with Zenits, and then hit them with Gekkos. Precisely. I tried a Gekko and Molot combo, didn't work as well...felt like one arm was shorter than the other in terms of damage, accuracy, range, and speed. I gave up on Noricums pretty early in the game, because they've useful for just psychological effect. I only have the Nori mounted for lack of a better option on a bot that's rarely in my main hangar. I've been hit with them directly right at the beginning of the Moon/Shentzen map several times, and it just tickles. Additionally, they just paint a "NOOB special offer" sign on your back. The Zenits, however, are extremely effective against campers, because 1) they're sitting ducks, and thus minimize Zenits' weaknesses 2) cause splash damage, AND largely ignore cover unless it's overhead. "Close counts in horseshoes and hand grenades". I consider the Zenits a second-string anti-camper weapon, as they're not particularly useful in most fights, and I've been frustrated by blue campers using them fecklessly, like trying to take out Carnages, Rogs, Stalkers, etc...on their own. I resort to "Nasty Nattie" when I start seeing a lot of campers, or just want to vary my playing style. What I think they're actually useful for is: 1) disrupting snipers to throw off their shot and help flush them out for the troops downrange 2) helping to cap/defend the main contested beacon in Yamantau/Canyon/Springfield -- [[ONLY]] 3) softening up any poor slow-moving dolt who wanders out into the open, especially those walking along the dam in Springfield. They are NOT primary weapons, at all, IMO.

Zenits are on my list to level up at some point -- I've actually had decent success popping snipers across the field. Not many kills, as I haven't leveled them up at all yet, but I know I'm annoying them enough to take some of their attention away from teammates. I've always wondered what kind of punch they'd pack at L9 or 10.

So I've tried the 8/8/8 Zenit Carnage experiment with mixed results.
As expected, it's proven most effective against campers who have no intention of moving. I hammered away at a Treb Raijin on the Red team that was in Bastion Mode on their home beacon on top of the ramp in Dead City. Was able to bring him down to about an eigth of health left, and then a teammate finished him off with a Trident.
But it's still almost useless against brawler bots that are constantly on their toes.
So I'm arriving at the conclusion that Zenits are in fact most effective as a counter-measure against campers, because you can harass them and reduce them as a threat to your other teammates while you're in defilade. (Although not necessarily with the intention of killing them outright.) And since campers tend to be stationary most of the time, they become easy targets for Zenits.

After saying I would run Zenits, I ran Zenits tonight and I am a man of my words. SNIP Thankyou for testing this. Your tests, combined with input from others in the Beacon Rush threads, have convinced me that Zenits, in their current form, are not good enough to justify using. If the reds capture center on Yama during BR, I think I will just try to go around rather than try to dig them out.

No problem. Someone needs to do the dirty work and incur the wrath of their teammates. Interesting choice of words. When I decide to trot out the Zenipt/Noricum Natty, it's usually my wrath against crappy teammates.

Zenits are best used on those triple Trebuchet wielding Furys. The Fury is slow and has a big hitbox, perfect for raining damage on.

Just by extending Zenit's explosion range from 25 m to 30 m, usability of weapons will be greatly improved. Because it goes 30 meters in Fury 3 seconds. I saw Zenit 's slightly faster rocket, but Fury likewise increased in speed, so it will not change until now. Certainly, Zenit's buff makes it easy to hit, but it is the result of seeking a hard-to-use specification for Camp ... I think that if it is a robot of up to 40 km, it is better to change it to hit even if it is moved. You do not mind if you add some homing

When I was experimenting with the noricoms, I found that the missiles will hit the point where your crosshair was at the moment you hit the fire button. Is that the same with the zenits? If so, does that mean that if I run a zenit/nori Nat, I can just hit the big red button and fire all weapons at once for more damage at that point?
