I hate to even comment about this because it seems like no matter what I would be coming from a biased position. However... I spend a lot of time here. I don't do it to get recognition. I don't do it to be "popular." I genuinely do it to help folks and give perspectives on the game that may not be readily apparent.
See... I don't like advice that resembles "This is how it is, you can't play ____ past ____ league. Because
I said so." Instead I say, "Why yes, I think that _______ can kick some major donkey! Lets look at how it works best with the bot you use, and see if it will fit into your play-style."
Except for Zenits, of course.
Anyway, what I am getting at, is I couldn't care less how anyone looks at me except for the people that I managed to help. Those.... well, those are the folk I still get on this forum for even when I should be getting more productive things done. If each of our nominations is THAT kind of popularity... then I don't see the harm.
And, I don't really see Cliques here... just a bunch of folk who play the same game and like to type about it. Sure, some agree with each other and stick together, but if it came down to it most would squad with anyone else... yes including Blastronaut.
It's not perfect, but, overall, this is a pretty cool forum with some damn cool people. If some of the forum get recognized in a particular manner, so what? I was just as floored when my name turned colors as I was when I was nom-ed. I don't claim to know all and never will... so I figured with as many against the grain posts and alternate meta advice posts I have posted, that I would have gotten a much harder reception as a TC than I did. I have been pleasantly surprised in how much the opposite was true. And that fact encourages me to keep reading, posting, asking, answering, venting, praising, arguing, and laughing on here.
Without all of us, not just the noms, but every user, there would only be...
gasp... Face Book.
Who wants that?
Not me.
So, when some really cool folk put together something like this, that recognizes people for the effort they put into it the site, specifically for helping others to play and enjoy the game more... it not only enhances the people who win's enjoyment, but it enhances the Forum as a whole. It encourages the behavior that the forum is here for... helping others and discussing the game. For that, more then the IP, I am grateful.
So, thanks again to the organizers, I really appreciate all that y'all do on your own and in coordination with Pixo. I don't have any cool gifs or jpgs to show it*... but it is real nonetheless.
And thanks to the users, nominated or not, who have put forth effort to help others and discuss the game with other folk who need direction, correction, and inspiration, without any thought of compensation. You We, are what make the forum work.IMO, YMMV.
*Maybe a different font size, bolded, and underlined will work as well as the pics and gifs
