... I got my 5th slot today! I know some of you were concerned about it. Also, to paraphrase John McClane, "Now I have a Trident, ho ho ho!"

Congrats! It feels like a small eon to save 5k but so good to have another option.

Just got my fifth slot a week ago. Funny thing is now I don't get to run all bots, but nice to have a choice depending on battle conditions.

You need to change up your lineup and play style to take advantage of the extra slot. You can afford to run more fast brawlers and get more aggressive- you'll do more to help your team win than running range bots but you'll die faster. Which with the extra slot is fine...

This is what I have. I start beacon capping with gary, then knife fight with the others unless I see I need to keep working the beacons. So sometimes I don't do much damage but help the team win by keeping the beacons blue. That said I just posted my first 700k damage count. Attachment Deleted

Looks good.
Your damage is lower than I'd expect, consistent with not getting all your bots into the mix.
As you move up it becomes less about capping beacons than holding them, and most of your bots won't be able to contest a beacon against a strong enemy brawler. Where the Gepard will need to fall back (think center on Yamantau, etc) a DB Griffin can defend and cap it under fire. It won't last as long, but it's a role critical to winning the close matches. Thus I'd suggest that you get more firepower in for your next evolution. I'd dump the Gepard first, probably running: 2x Orkan/ Aphid Griffin, Plasma Rhino, Plasma Galahad, Gareth. With that lineup I'd run the Gareth last rather than first as a late game beacon capper. Once you get comfortable pushing harder with those bots you'll need to worry about meching- at that point consider mid-range (RDB or TT Fury) in place of the Gareth. Long term it's too fragile for Top IMHO- start seeing TT Fury running in packs and it won't last long.

I agree with CatnHat, especially the parts of dropping the Gepard/repurposing the Aphids to Griffs and not bring out the Gareth first.
This is IMO a mistake many pilots make when transitioning to the higher tiers. Initial beacon control usually doesn't decide the outcome of matches in the higher tiers, but flipping that beacon near the end with the only runners left on either side frequently wins the match when it's close (hence the reason to bring the Gareth out when it's strengths are needed most).
Another reason why you don't bring out a pure beacon runner as the first bot is you get screwed if the bot DOESN'T get killed quickly ---- in that you'll be compelled to stay in the bot while it is healthy and be rewarded with pitiful damage/silver amount and place near the bottom for your team.

Do you know about the Eject button? Most pilots are loath to eject from a bot that has over 75% of its health left, both legs, and all it's weapons. The Gareth and Stalker in TT are a trap in some ways because of that.

Thanks for the advice I'll work on the transition. I have a carnage, Galahad, and several grifs to work with. Be hard to give up the gep, it's an annoying little bot! I have soooo much fun drawing off 5 reds to the rear of their drop point lol. Also been running with my clan mates a lot lately, and many battles last less than five minutes, but I like the idea of fighting first beacons last.

The Gareth and Stalker in TT are a trap in some ways because of that. I hear you on that. Once I got my Plasma Golem stuck in the center beacon on Yamantau at the edge of one of the walls where the ramp goes up. I had full health and kept clicking on the menu button, but kept dismissing it as I couldn't bring myself to eject. I ended up getting fragged, but not before taking out 1 beacon attacker.
