Hello there,
I´m a semi-new Player currently in 2600ish league. Most of my bots are in the 8/9 level and the weapons are in general 8 to 10. I´ve developed strategies for close combat/knifing, mid and far range without reading any wiki or forums and all was working well for me, usually ending up in 1st-3rd in battles, often making the most damage and the most kills in a round.
Then the summer event started and it went all downhill from there: since a few days I have the feeling that I lost the ability to play the game till I noticed I´m playing against bots from league level 1000 to over 11000 (got screenshots on this). So I´m there using my usual routines and end up with being totally f*****ed each and every round. So what´s the point of this? Usually players of the very same league level were playing against each other. Nothing wrong to add a little variance there, let´s say maybe let 1800 to 2300 play against each other.
But as a 2600, getting killed with a instant death button by a 11900 (12/12), where´s the fun in this? Is this intentional? The other poor bots in silver or even bronze who are on my team, they´re total cannon fodder to the 6000 to 10k+ bots we´re playing against. This just sucks. Will it stay this way?
Sorry if this might be wrong place for my posting as I´m new here. I thought general discussion would fit my questions best. And also sorry if this may sound whiny, but it kinda ruins the game experience for me.
So, how´s your personal experience since start of the event? I just want to be reassured I´m not an idiot and I´m not the only one playing against bots who are way out of league.
Have a nice day:)

Hello! First of all welcome to the forum community, don't worry about posting in the wrong section, our lovely mods will move it accordingly in time. [Legends of the forum, correct me if I'm wrong] Now to your enquiry, yes matchmaking can be a pain in the 「bum-bum」 sometimes, but we just have to suck it up. Some of these champion leagues might be in squad battles, and just so happens to land in your match. Some might be last minute players dropped into your match, because matchmaking can't find anyone else on the server at that time. My honest-est opinion, just take it with a pinch of salt, and continue on Spartan mode.... CHARGEEEEEEE!! Cheers, WilsonK

There are a few other threads about scewy match making over the last week. People are saying its to do with the event, but not sure how that would affect it this way. It appears to be putting me in matches with pretty much anyone other that my own leauge. Sometimes I am the bully in matches with guys two leauges down, sometimes I am in games with Chapions and Masters, getting destroyed. Not sure if it will fix itself but it is fairly annoying at the moment.

My honest-est opinion, just take it with a pinch of salt, and continue on Spartan mode.... CHARGEEEEEEE!! Cheers, WilsonK Thanks for your warm welcome:) I guess you´re right and I´m just going to live with it the way it currently is. As I was mentioning in my first posting here I never read a wiki or forum about Warrobots before and after reading some postings here I´m wondering if I´m in the leave queue penalty? Lately I favored a certain map and joined game and left instantly within the countdown message to try to get the map I wanted. Does this already put me in LQ penalty or is this only true if you leave a game when the game already started, meaning the countdown already ended? I don´t mind fighting players with better equipment as I focus on making the best of my setup which usually worked really well for me. So... am I the cause myself for playing against 10k+ bots or have been done changes to the match making since the summer event? Regards, ck

Welcome [CK]erazor ! Yeah I don't know what the MM (Match Maker) is up to for the past week either, I'm getting 50% games where the make up is basically champ, master, expert and diamond in both teams, and 50% sensible match-ups where we're all more or less the same. I can tell very soon into the game when its one of "those" where I'm up against 11/11 and 12/12 hangars (I'm in Diamond, mostly lvl 9s) and I hate those games and often I really don't enjoy those games. My team might still win, but I'm pretty much canon-fodder. I haven't read an explanation of what the MM is going exactly anywhere yet.

I´ve seen matches with bronze + champions and I´m so glad you have the same experience. Started just a few days ago that the MM started to act up, right? Lowest I had on my own team was a level* 7/499 league points player and there is simply no point for a player this low to get mauled by a champions player. Thank you so much for sharing this. I really feel relieved now. Still hope pixonic will change this again to a more sane setting, as it doesn´t make sense and isn´t fun at all. I tried talking to them on Twitter, but they didn´t react. Well, let´s be patient. * To clarifiy on this: not level 7 bot or 7 weapons. I´m talking about player level 7. running around in some destriers.

Russel could this poor fella ended up in LQ because he was map-hopping? Either way to [CK]erazor , if you're worried whether you're really in LQ or not, just play whatever match that you go into till the end or till you mech out. You'll be back in NQ in no time.

Yeah and there's no official statement on these rules of ending up in LQ.. Well prolly because their priority is raking in $$, not player's contentment, but yet again that is also subjective... Before all these electronic games, recreational games were so much simpler and straightforward, plus lots of sweat

Its Pixonics fix to tanking.
Bought or farmed your way to 12/12 and find you can't win against your peers! Don't tank don't worry, because we'll bring lower level players to you so you don't have to!
There, tanking stopped.

So that might be very well the cause for my current issues with the game as I have, as you said it, been doing some map hopping. My assumption was that if I leave match before it starts, I won´t get any kind of penalty. Maybe I´m wrong. If so, the game should tell you that if you continue map hopping, you´ll get penalty cause if you get no information about what is happening, you´ll think something is wrong with the game/account what so ever. I´ll play a few maps without leaving during countdown and see if the match making returns to its former state. Thanks to all of you for your input:)

I must admit if it was that way, it would lack any logic. If you quit when the match has already started or you haven´t used all bots yet, penalty is fine with me. But for queue leaving before start? Nah. Well. Guess I´ll have some weeks of "fun" then;)

Pix stated a while ago in the comment section of a FB post that map skipping counts towards LQ.
Sounds like youre in there.
They told me that they are still working on the LQ, so they can't give details about it.
Given that it can take a while to get out, you dont know if youre really in LQ, and maybe you wont tell the difference when youre out (mm seems to have been changed lately) I would contact the support. Can't hurt.
Another thing is that the event tasks make games more competitive, especially the wins. If there are enough ppl who need wins on a team, you really feel the difference, compared to off event.
Dont skip maps if youre in LQ.
I skip yam and spring sometimes, but no more than 3 times in a row. After the 3rd i leave the game for a while so that the rotation changes. I also sometimes leave games when ppl are clearly testing troll builds or 4 guys drop in with ranged carnages. So far, no problems with LQ.
I guess its important that you play enough games between skipping/leaving, and dont do it too often in a set amount of time.

Sounds like a rant, moving to Rants Section ;) Ok:) But as far as I´m concerned, the topic is settled anyway. Thanks all of you again and have a nice day. 1) I sympathize you. I really do. I think Pixonic is making a great game, but the WORST customer relationships/support in the world. 2) If you think of the reason - you can easily find one. Players with hangar full of Trebuchet Furies and Trident Furies would skip every map and dominate Yamantau/canyon, making it no fun for everyone else. 3) If I were in your shoes I would leave attempts to fight "honest" against champions, fill my hangar with light mechs and would only run beacons. If you lose - you lose fast. If you win - you get gold. And your LQ experience is battle quantities related, so you would "do your time" faster, so to say.

Update: Seems I´m out of the "extreme" LQ match making area. I´m again playing in the 2000-3000 level and again, winning a lot of matches with a good rank. So I have to conclude, that leaving a match in early stage while queue is still active and match hasn´t started yet still puts a penalty on you, forcing you to play against 10k+ bots. The game really should point a finger at your face, telling you that something is about to happen when you continue with your map selection in the manual way hehe. Cheers! Russel. As far as I´m concerned Pixonic doesn´t have customer relations at all. They never replied to my Twitter enquiries and every other company on the world does, some in less than 5 minutes. But the game is still great. And it´s even that great, that I´m not touching the > 100 games in my steam lib. Ironic, kinda:) Good idea about the beacon grabbing though. Always a good fun running around in destriers with shielding. They look like walking eggs hehe.

Ill usually get a period of good matchups and wins and then the MM kills me with crazy match ups (either v high level opponents or low level blues).
Guess it's the MM balancing things out.

There was a brief moment when MM seemed to be quasi-fair, but now it went full-「female dog」 again. Suffice to say, in last days I played just few games (0 in last 2)...not enough time and no reason to waste time trying to figure out the ways to play in environment running on ill-math made by ppl not exactly knowing what they are doing. Hopefully one day the "experiments" (*) cease and the game will be more playable again.
* - experiments here do not mean trial-and-error, but more like trial-error-fail-idiotic_fail-hilarious_fail-error_again-wat_da_「fluffernutter」-ummmm-trial-...loop...
