So, you want War Robots to be like EVE? Then, they'll only offer it if you have active premium membersbip. Is this comment directed to me?

Hey Marty, Back in Jan just before the new MM hit I was running a 6/8 heavy hangar, 3/7 medium and 2/5 light. I would also mix and match to create faction hangars for fun. My intention then was to slowly build up to a top tier hangar while maintaining the ability to play up and down, squad with my son and faction mates, all that stuff. Then the new MM hit. Was not a fan. As the chaos was working it's way out I upgraded all my heavies to 7, and then my Griffin to 8. It was around then that I realized just what the new MM entailed. A essentially damaged based league system that would not allow you to go up and down by swapping bots in and out of the hangar. I had already been placed in Gold 1. My lights and mediums were worthless. Upgrading my heavies further would only make them more so. I decided then and there that I was done climbing the league. So I froze my heavies in place, slotted in my lights and relentlessly upgraded them to 9, giving them level 8 weapons from my heavy lineup. They became my main hangar. Over the last thousand matches I've played, I've played them over 300x. I actually made D3 with them. After they hit 9, I began leveling up the mediums. They are now at 7 with a mix of level 7 and 8 weapons. My plan is to leave my heavies be, get my mediums up to 8 and have my lights at 9. My weapons range from 5-8 with a single L9 Thunder from the old MM days that was on a Boa that ran with my heavies. I'll bring the weapons up to 8. My goal is to be able to use any bot I own and have it operate at approximately the sameish level of effectiveness. I'm getting there. I like Gold1 (with occasional visits so far to G2 and D3). There is tons of bot variety there, I get to see everything. I get to use everything. I run faction hangars, weight class hangars and mixed hangars. That's ten catagories of hangar with plenty of flavors in each. I own 41 bots and use 40 of them, 30 regularly. Upgrading them to nine would just shove me up higher. Ah makes perfect sense. You keep the gameplay you enjoy with a diversity of toys to play it with. That's a sound idea. Personally I haven't been that way but I can see myself having a silver credit crunch in the coming months. With my 2 accounts I've had the luxury of running 2 different hangar style, one with heavies specific and the other a med specific. Currently at D2 and E3 I'm lucky that my playstyle allows for reputedly squishy bots like Garys post 2.9 and the Rog to still be useful. That said up in diamond and Expert silver med bots are largely gone as are lights. Higher up (MM has often placed me in with Champs) it exceedingly becomes a multi lancelot affair. This makes me a very sad monkey. Bunch of Lances running around trying to out-Lance each other must get pretty boring.

Upgrading them to nine would just shove me up higher. I think you are underestimating the fun factor of higher bot speed. Also, the effectiveness increase of just upgrading a bot from 8 to 9 is minimal. It's the weapons which push you up. I'd even suggest upgrading the bots higher than 9, for a bit more HP. HP means dying a bit less less, which means spending a bit less time travelling from the spawn to where you want to be. Which is something I hate. If you want to control your league placement, use weapon level for that, I would suggest.

Is this comment directed to me? Anyone asking for/desiring an extra upgrade slot really. I don't know what EVE is but I definitely didn't advocate for monthly fees. I just want an extra upgrade slot for a one time price like I've seen added to other games I play/have played.

There's almost no way I would spend even a penny on "freemium" games. Maybe I'm a little old fashioned growing up on consoles and no internet. A one time fee of around of up to $50 and I get a game in its entirety. I just can't buy into freemium, the content is just not worth what the developers are selling it for, in my opinion. I'm not really sure what this has got to do with the topic at hand. I will ask. Why are you willing to drop a one time fee of $50 on a console game yet not on a 'freemium' game. I don't say that you should or not - that's up to you and many people challenge themselves to do as much as possible without spending money, but why, to you, are the developers worth less to you than the developers of a console game?

I'm about to bring my Orkans from L11 to L12 - 7 days Upgrade time. Total: L5 to L12 - 28 days .. that's a little much. A second upgrade slot would cut that in half .. You'd run out of silver so fast it isn't funny. Hard enough to keep up as it is. As much as the idea sounds great on paper, in practice it'd be a nightmare. I presently have 90 mill. Down from a high of 130 mil. Almost finished to upgrades to 9/10 and will be starting weapons to 11 in a week. I'm getting premium to try to keep up and have a very detailed list of what I'm doing and when. Once I have a fair amount of level 11 weaponry I'm going to have to upgrade some low value stuff just to keep the ag flowing.

Well, with the 2.9.2 update, you'll have a reason to upgrade a set of Punishers and/or Molots and/or Geckos, as all these are apparently getting crazy buffs. You might want to start these updates already now. Also, if you are planning to get Premium, get it now, for the event! Unless you play the same amount even now during the event, then never mind.

I seriously don't mind, can upgrade twin-style! (e.g. two lvl.11 tarans to lvl. 12)

I have 10 days premium as of 4 days ago, enough to cover both weekends. I have 2 punisher T at 8, a punisher at 9 a punisher at 8 and a punisher at 6. A bit underlevelled compared to the rest of my hangar I admit. But enough to give me a thunder punisher lance and leo or a punisher (lead hose) griffin. I have 1 gekko at 9, 2 at 7, 1 at 6 and a pair of trebs at 7 which arms nat, leo or patton. I also have a set of spirals and hydra at 7 with a third hydra (fujin) at 3. My molots are all at between 1 and 3. I really can't justify doing anything with them at the moment. This is all stuff outside of my regular hangar and not being looked at at this time.

Now that the event is on I've been more motivated, making 8-10m a day. Feels good to be getting ahead again.

Personally, there would have been times where I would have paid for this, but I also have been around long enough such that at one point I had ~400 mil silver back before the silver earning nerf (which I didn't even notice at the time). Now that I am oh-so close to having a maxed hanger, I'm not in a huge rush, but it would be nice to upgrade one of my high level weapons and a lower level weapon at the same time (silver wouldn't be as much as an issue in this instance). For example, I'm upgrading a 3rd Tulu to have a Hatachi (Dash Mk2) and I want to try Tulus on it first. I'd love to be able to upgrade the Tulu while I've got a 4-5 day upgrade going on one of my other near-maxed pieces of equipment.
Unfortunately, I blew all of my silver (and gold) in about a month expediting upgrades from levels 9 to 11. Now I'm doing what everyone else is, earning silver for the next upgrade while the current upgrade is going on. I've even calculated a metric that has helped me prioritize my upgrading so that I can maximize the amount of silver I can earn during an upgrade. It is the cost of an upgrade relative to how long it will take. For instance, upgrading a Pin to max costs 13 mil, but only takes ~2 days to finish (, but if I upgrade my Carnage to max, it takes 15 mil and takes over 5 days. The Carnage upgrade becomes more valuable to me because I can earn approximately double the silver while the carnage is upgrading for about the same price.

The poll is pretty one sided thus far but Interesting pros and cons in the discussion.

over a year ago i paid $70 to max most of my gear from 10/10 and did not regret it one bit. anyone saying they earn 10m silver a day should have enough gold to speed some upgrades and/or part with some cash. as some have said the cost past level 9 is extreme and should not be so quickly dismissed as a couple of these mid tier hangars are trying to do...

Just for fun I calculated the cost to upgrade my current hanger (five Level 10 heavies plus a mixture of Level 9/10 weapons) to Level 12. Total was 847m Ag. That's assuming the meta doesn't change and cause me to adjust my hanger. The cost from Level 9 to Level 12 would exceed a Billion Ag.

The upgrade times are really long. I understand it to some extent, not everyone should be able to roll with lvl 12 gear too quickly and it's part of the game that you need to think twice about what you want to upgrade. But i think it really hinders flexibility. I am currently at level 8-9 with my prime hangar, but experimenting with new gear just takes too long until it reaches that level, too.
I would like to see it as part of premium. Premium "only" gives silver, they could increase either Gold payout, decrease upgrade times, or add a temporary extra upgrade slot. I don't think we'll ever see it as a permanent Gold purchase, that would be quite stupid from Pix (and they are really not).

I like the idea of being able upgrade two things at once, but there's just no way I could keep up with the Silver demands. With that in mind I see no benefit and wouldn't spend the Gold. I would prefer being able to queue the next upgrade, to reduce missed upgrade hours.

^^ What stokr said ... have an active queue of more than 1 so an upgrade can finish in the night and the next one just begins
