Released in 1997, this set remains one of the greatest Magic: the Gathering sets/blocks ever produced. It was such a wellspring of creativity for WotC that half the mechanics they came up with for the set got removed and used in Urza block (cycling, echo). An engaging story that would eventually drag on waaay too long, this was the dawn of the three-set story arc that would come to define the game for nearly the next two decades. An absolute slam dunk of a set, and one of the top five of all time.

Tempest Ahh the days of blue/green/black and blue/black permission and control decks. As for being top five I'm good with that though I think the Urza blocks themselves were also part of that top six they made up some of my favorite control decks (Tempest, Stronghold, Exodus to Saga, Legacy, Destiny). Graveyard cycling with things like recurring nightmare became so much more fun when you could untap lands or obliterate things on the battle field just by bringing something back from the dead. Don't get me wrong it was always fun to play a Spirit of the night from your graveyard but using a Palinchron and doing it all for free is more fun.

Hey Dredd77 maybe you could give us your thoughts on the: and how it balances against things like: The new - and will it be the downfall of the Carnage?

This reminds me that I need to sell my P9 cards.... That's a metric ?firetruck?ton of event coins, or a down payment on a house ?

The movie where Jabba the Hut was sadly taken from us by the rebel scum. Stupid light beam sabers and back flipping...Pix needs to nerf this some how it's clearly OP.

I had a shadow deck that I loved. The whole rath overlay story was awesome. really hope the weatherlight is still out there somewhere. Also hope to see Karn again soon. Very excited for the return to Dominaria next year.

This reminds me that I need to sell my P9 cards.... That's a metric ?firetruck?ton of event coins, or a down payment on a house ? That plus an almost full set of duals, mana drains, FoW, city of brass, misha's workshop, etc. All the primo T1 toys before oath basically. I so miss blue control mirror universe decks. they were so fun, yet I have to admit, it was a warped meta. i mean, I recall a period of time when it came down to whoever had their mishra out the longest before being stripped was the winner.

Haven't played since Ice Age.
Can you still play a mono artifact deck? I loved that deck.
I also have fond memories of my mono black speed deck.

I was expecting the heavy molot tempest I'm going to call it: this right here is some gorgeously marbled, dryyyyyy-aged, USDA Prime trolling. And it's making me hungry. Kind of want to go on an "MM is BROKEN" thread and tell them it's fine, they're supposed to melt in your mouth and not in your hands;)
