Thunder Taran Lancelot seems to die too easily these days given the prominence of rockets. Taran Ancilot survives fine but does too little damage. Would Molot MK2 Ancilot do better given its longer range and hence its getting into shooting position sooner? Anyone tried it?

I haven't. No Lance in my hanger. That being said, I wouldn't call a Gunship Griffin a "damage-dealing death-bringer." A Molot Lance would be less-so.

I haven't but I believe I read of a user, recently, that has used both that build and Punisher/Ancile. Personally, with the range of Molots, I would do my damnedest to deal with a Mid or Long range weapon instead of the Tophat with Armor +5 since you can kite, snipe, and suppress... but I can see it could work with just Ancile and suppression, for sure. Now, when the Tempest comes out... that's a fun build, believe it or not.

Means you can stay out of rocket range and deal some decent damage (c500-550m)

Orkans is your only other ral option besides taran. The punishers are a little underwhelming too... I am really looking forward to the tempest.

you can check out the tulumbas thunder lance or... punisher thunder lance. strong and suprising builds. IMO, molots mk2 would be better suited to the fujins, rhinos, and griffins. keep on hunting.

No.
I've seen it. Defeats purpose of Lance. But you're welcome to have fun with it. I did an ancilot with hydras once just to mess with my clan mates, lol! But it is not something I did for longer than one battle.
There are plenty of other mechs to put molots and punishers on. For example, quad molot Doc has 'continuous suppression fire' capacity if timings are controlled just right, and it's a hoot!
Using Lance as a brawler, to protect teammates, hold beacons, and overwhelm enemy is ideal. Molots will not help.

If you think tarans don't do enough, strap some molots on it ?
Seriously, no.

The Ancil would be unnecessary if you use the Molots at the range they were meant for since splash weapons would be out of range of you. If you must use your Lance with Molots, use it with Nashorn or with the Tempest that will come out this week. The Tempest/Molot Lance is one that I'm considering building after the Tempest lands.

I have two lances, one is a Puncillot, the other was redundant and I'm now playing around with it.
I tried Molot/Ancille but was a bit underwhelmed. Right now I'm running Molot/KangDae while waiting for my tempest which I expect to be a winner.

Unless you are in a cover rich map, like Dead City or Power Plant, I am starting to find my close range Lancelots being a in more perilous state. With all the new weapons --- Scourge, Tempest --- rebalances on Noricums, Zenits, and ballistics --- we are headed to an increasingly mid range meta, which is already bolstered by rebalances on Pins, Tulumbas and helped further by the Zeus bug fix.
Considering there may be plans to boost Molots in the future, including increased damage to shields, I would consider Molot Mk2s with a Lancelot but only in conjunction of the new Tempest.
I also have great fun with "Sparky" on the test server --- namely a Lancelot with two Scourges and a Zeus --- very nice for reaching out to those Dash robots.

I agree with others that Tempest/Molot II is a very fun build to run. Ran a hangar with five of those, and had a few 1million damage games on the test server. Not sure exactly how much it was tweaked since that before release but it was very effective when I used it.

Waiting for upcoming changes. I still think there are other mechs that are more practical for this set up, while the Lance is most helpful as brawler, but it certainly is fun and useful nonetheless.

Now that 2.9.2 has reigned in rockets, I"ve been using a Thunder, Punisher mk2s Lancelot (Thunisher Lancelot? Thunishalot? Punderlot?) Again and am pleased with it.
I have to admit though, letting the woobie go was/is tough though.
Someday I'll give the Tempest Molot Mk2s Lancelot (Temolot? Molestelot? Molestelot, wow, just wow) a shot, but first it's twin Tempest Raijin (「Tempest Raijin」...?).

As mentioned in the other thread, Lancelot with Punishers and Tempest is a nice build aswell. I didn't do any math, but it very much feels like the Tempest is superior to the Thunder from 300 to 500 meters. I was actually surprised about the performance as mixed ranges usually are junk and this was just a test. I have not leveled Molots far enough. My 9/9/9 Punisher/Tempest build however seems to be a very capable midrange option. Survivability is better due to midrange role instead of knife fighting. But still, at point blank range this thing is a 「fluffernutter」ing shredder. Another bonus is the brutal sound and raw look of this beast. I have the digital camouflage on my Lance and I seriously dig the appearance with this loadout. It looks like a war robot.
