Last week I bought the newbie pack of Gepard equipped with 3 Pinatas.
The Snowflake chests keeps awarding me with CRV Pins though, 5 of them to be exact. And I noticed I can equip them on the Gepard. Now, reading through everything related to what weapons works best with a Gepard, with the exception of Magnums and Aphids, I see Pinatas most commonly used. On paper, CRV Pins deals more damage and reloads faster than a Pinata at Level 5. Is there something I'm missing on why Pinatas are more commonly used?
Thank you.

Pinatas are better for close range and CRV Pins are better for medium range. Pinata's are more commonly used because they can do more damage in one salvo.

It's the damage of one rocket, not the full salvo. The Pinata does more damage, at the cost of about 150m range...

I run 3 pinatas on my gep and it's a great ambush bot. However, you do have to get up close which puts you at greater risk of return fire. I've never tried pins on my gep. Pins would give you longer range and have better splash for hitting reds behind cover. Although 3 pins will not do nearly as much damage as 3 pinatas of the same level.
It probably depends on how you're planning to use your gep. I use mine as a beacon capper on the big maps, and for ambushes while ducking in and out of cover on the close maps. Gepards really excel at those kinds of tactics. The pin is more of a mid-range support weapon, which is not the strongest use of a gepard, imo. There are better choices for that role. But not everyone likes the same thing, so since you already have them in your inventory, why not try both and see what works best for you?

I see. The Weapons stats in-game us very vague as it doesn't specify if the damage is per rocket or per salvo. Trogon, I tried it just now. I think I'm gonna stick to the Pinatas lol. Anyway, thank you everyone!

Keep the pins as they are great as you advance up the ranks.....useful for splash damage against shield bots that you will start seeing in silver. Used for the RDB variant of rhinos and griffins with the tumblus....it is one of my favorite wep combinations in silver and gold tiers.

Use the pinatas on the Gepard. Pins are for longer range.
Yes, you have to get closer to use pinatas but the Gepards speed allows you to get in and out fast.
Pins can be used on a much slower GI Patton, then on a Golem (with trident and tulumbas), and finally on a Griffin (with tulumbas).

Pinata Gep is a monster.
It takes practice, but when you learn to land the whole salvo of rockets you can cripple med bots in one blast. Heavies are too slow to chase you and you can swat Cossack's from the sky.
