Awesome insight into why Mechs are awesome! I've been operating heavy equipment since my Army days (no combat stuff, but wreckers and MHE), and spent about 9 years running Backhoes, trackhoes, dozers etc for the local utility dept - easily the most satisfying work I've ever done, and the article hit this right on the head. Having control of a machine that can move tons of earth, knock down a building, whatever...one could imagine having a rocket launcher at one's disposal...

Sorry to be the sour grapes here. The article felt like it had no depth. It didn't actually talk about Mechs very much.

Robotech was my first true love!
Mechwarrior was pretty awesome as well, along with Battletech and Melton. Rarely got a chance to actually play them, but I loved reading the game rules and devising strategies anyway.
