This Forum's Threads are becoming repetitive

Well, we all have to use the same forum. Many folks repeat thread subjects when they are new. It happens. Mods don't consolidate all similar threads since the meta may change in such a way that the same problem may have different answers depending on when it is asked. That and they have a policy of looking down on necroposting. Peeps search and post in a thread that already exists, and get ridiculed for necroposting. Peeps start a new thread and get hammered for "not searching and posting on an existing thread."

I skip most of the repeats and just go to the ones that are either asking for help, or talking about off meta builds, or actual discussions of pros and cons of something, anything that is interesting. My advice... Just don't read the ones you don't want to read. Looking at it on the Mobile site, you may not have the option to choose "No Rants" in the Navigation box, but if you do, use that to skip the complaints and such.

Either way, I and many others (guess what, this post is an example of what you are talking about, many have complained about the complainers and repeats... ironic, no?) have been through the same period of thought, and I realized that what I thought didn't really come into it. This forum is for you, but it is for me, and all the people who post threads that we are not going to read, as well. What is tiresome to you, is absolutely relevant to the poster, and maybe a few others.

This is like when a RL romantic relationship has moved into the "poop with the door open" phase. You're at the point where you're too familiar with one another, and it's a weird thing to adjust to. I'm 38, have been on online game forums since about 1995 - back when BBS's were still a thing. Every single game forum is the same way, and oddly, it's a sign of a healthy forum. It means new people are finding it, and the veteran members still care enough to mentor them and answer all the same questions they've been answering for months or years. Veterans often stay for the community and relationships they build with other members, and typically will take a step back or some breaks from the forum. When they resurface, those relationship bonds are still there and the other vets are invariably happy to see them return to a more active place.

So anyway, I know it gets frustrating answering the same questions over and over, but there is value to it, even if it seems like a slog sometimes.

I kinda agree. Also a lot of questions that would be better suited for the Tips and advises section are actually put on the main forum, people may need to be a bit more careful with that.

It feels like the overall participation is increasing fast. These days I have trouble following everything ! I guess it's good sign for the game, though.

I will say this. I know that part of it is because of a last-minute attempt to look "influential" for the contest, and I'm totally okay with that, but lately I feel like the forum has really been showing signs of vibrancy again. Part of it too is that we've cleared out some of the worst offenders who were dragging the place down.

I logged in a couple days ago to "do my rounds," clicked "Recent," and saw tons of informative threads and much, much less whiny stuff.

And I feel like I'm gonna jinx things, but you know what else is way, way, WAY down? Reported posts, which for us has been a reliable barometer of the level of animus and drama.

Keep up the good work, y'all. This is your baby. I just change the diapers.
