I'd like to think your analysis would encourage some of those "damage ?hot stuff?s" to rethink their strategy, however all that silver is probably still too much of a lure/incentive. Very informative, at the very least I now have a greater understanding of the impact I'm making on any given match

Awesome work and an enjoyable read. I was afraid you were going to do a treatise on OLS, and I was going to have to think way too hard about taking stats while getting my M.A. - so glad you didn't!
Would love to see a histogram for each of the three variables if you happened to make them for your own use.

Damn Dude.. I dont know if I have enough popcorn to make it through this one.. Awesome job on the data though. Between that, your family, playing the game and managing a clan when do you ever sleep?!

Just fyi, the black writing underneath the main title is not readable due to the picture across top screen.

Very well written article. I've said it before, and I'll say it again - my head doesn't do numbers like that, but it's cool to see it laid out there. As you said, "a peek under the hood".

Very good opening Post under the new Name.
I came away with a good sense that Teamwork is still required and each Piloting branch, Beacon-runner, Support and Grunt are still needed; something I felt was lost from the latest Update.
Even though it was a single a single sample size, it represented the average of most Players and you were able to draw a very concise conclusion from the limited data.
Beers and Cheers! - Faith restored - Thank you, good Sir ..

Great read Dredd. Funny thing too, just won a game on Power Plant where we were handily out damaged and outkilled but beacon control brought the match home!

Nice read, Dredd77, and I'm glad you mentioned the part about the correlation between a person's performance and their likelihood to take/submit a screenshot. I do have one question, that might be a stupid question because I read quickly and had a very long work day. For damage, your chart seems to depict that if you have a 1:1 damage ratio with the opposing team, you win 61% of the time. Yet the opposing team also has 1:1 ratio, and only wins 39% of the time? It's probably a statistical theory I'm not quite understanding. The other two seemed much closer, but the disparity in the damage one seemed odd. Tell me if I'm just being dumb or if I need to re-read in more detail. Lastly, since you're such a good writer, I feel like it's a fun game if we happen to find errors. The last sentence in the second paragraph under "kills" begins with a lowercase letter!!!

I think most of the data are clumped between .66 to 1.5, so seeing that range zoomed in on might give us a much better idea of what it looks like.

Remember all those screenshots I asked folks to post here of their games? The results are in. Huge undertaking, thank you for all the effort. I think you could take it one step further... Don't just open the hood... Let's pull the heads off... See what she is made of lol... I play each map a little different. I believe some maps are beacon maps and some damage maps... When fighting for a center beacon... Damage and kills affect who holds the longest. But when trying to take the beach and having a constant swing is more a beacon match... So get map specific. Ask which map the results come from. Find out if all is equal or one map favors a play style.... Just a thought. Thanks again.

Thanks to all that contributed to the data collection and analysis. Would it be possible to show the standard deviation of damages? Yes more number crunching. I believe this value when correlated to wins should show that team effort ( when all blues are playing to their best) will beat out the reds with one or two superstars; i.e. smaller SD will win most of the time. Hopefully, this can change the minds of some players considering tanking as a strategy. Thanks again for all the hard work.
