There's a lot of missed opportunities and "what-if's" that I've noticed in this game, but I think the greatest tragedy is the fact one of the coolest looking weapons in the game is also one of the weakest. In case it wasn't already clear, I'm talking about the Punishers, those unbelievably sick miniguns I've been told over and over again are simply worthless. But they look like so much fun to use, and those unleveled babies in storage are becoming increasingly tempting. So before I do anything rash and waste a bunch of time leveling useless weapons (Don't wanna repeat the quad-Molot Doc incident) I'd like to hear a bit of feedback from the experts.
Have Punishers ever performed decently for you? Is it somehow possible to make them consistently viable? What kind of strategies would you employ while using them?

I am still enjoying mine, even with the recent up and down damage/performance tweaks.
Quite a few threads where I, and others, have stated why and on what builds we use Puns... I'll try and find some links when I have a few more minutes. Not to say "You should search more!" but just so I don't have to retype it all lol.
Either way, yes, I like them and still use them.

Very interesting and invaluably informative. Thanks.

No. I'm lucky to reload and use my second clip before I die. My damage takes a nosedive. Haven't found any strategy that works yet. I do want to use it, but too many Anciles and shields. And no player is gonna stand out in the open for you.

And no player is gonna stand out in the open for you. Anciles get shredded by Punishers though, and pretty soon shields are gonna receive twice as much damage from kinetic weapons. Also, in my experience, plenty of people are willing to stand out in the open when they think they can get an easy kill.
