A common mistake people tend to make is spawning their next favorite bot immediately without giving it any thought. When you start a new game, take a moment. On some maps, you can actually see what bots your opponents are dropping. You can use this information to pick the best bot from your hangar to suit what you already know is in the field.
Also, when you're killed, don't rush to drop your next bot. Your camera will be moved to the person that killed you, and you can scan around and usually see at least a few other reds to see what they're running. Determine what left in your hangar best suits the situation and use that. I'll give some examples based on my hangar and what I do.
First, my hangar:
Ancile/Orkan Lancelot
Thunder Carnage
Plasma Galahad
RDB Griff
DB Griff
To start a game, if I can see the opponents.
Example 1: I see two or more Ancilots on the red side, and I can see that a few of my teammates dropped in splash rocket bots. Take a moment to think about what my best option would be...
Answer: Thunder Carnage. The enemies will likely use their Ancilots as a front line and push behind them. So the number one priority is taking them out. I know some of my teammates have splash, and they'll have trouble breaking through the Ancile and doing significant damage. So I'll drop in my Thunder Carnage and branch off with the splash damage guys. As soon as I'm within 500m of the Ancilots, I start firing to break the Anciles. Once the anciles are down, the splash guys unload their rockets. The Ancilots go down quick and efficient, and nobody wastes their salvos.
Example 2: No red Ancilots, but a lot of splash. My team has a couple of Ancilots already dropped. What would you drop?
Answer: RDB Griff. This is a very good opening bot when the situation fits. If my team didn't already have ample Ancile shields, I would've dropped in my Ancilot. But since my team has a couple in play already, I can stay behind them and provide heavy support with the newly buffed RDB.
The same logic applies to when you die in a battle. Let's say I started in my RDB, and I died. I wait a few seconds to scan the field and see that the reds have a lot of splash in the field. At this point, I can spawn anything EXCEPT my Galahad. Spawning in that would be wasting a bot. Am I needed somewhere quick to provide emergency support? If so, then the Ancilot is out. Are there anciles on the reds that my team needs help with? Time to go Carnage. You will refine your logic based on your own hangar with practice. But what you must make sure not to do is to make a decision on your next bot based on nothing. The game provides you information. Use it.
