Hey Folks - New player here suffering from a 48-hour addiction to War Robots that's likely permanent. Been having a blast learning and playing the game. I've hit a brick wall though in my matches in that I find myself suddenly paired with, and playing against, players whose bots and weapon levels are significantly higher than mine. Don't understand why that's happening, thus the inquiry. My hangar setup is as follows:
Level 2 Cossack with level 5 Tulumbas
Level 2 Patton with 4 x level 4 Punishers
Level 2 Golem with level 5 Punisher Mk2, level 5 Thunder and level 5 Pinata
Level 2 Vityaz with level 5 Thunder and 2 x level 5 Pinatas
As an example, in a recent match one player (an opponent) had a level 8 Patton, level 8 Stalker, level 8 Griffon and level 8 Fujin. All bots were level 7/8/9 weaponry.
Any thoughts? Thanks!

If you are good pilot, and can wreck those who upgrade before they know how to play - you will be facing those guys more and more. I usually play agains guys with 1-2 level higher equipment than mine. It's all right. Just don't leave game at the start (before all your bots are destroyed), or otherwise you might end in a hellhole called "Leavers queue", and you don't want to be there.

Anyway, you've played too much and progressed too fast ;-) What you need to do now is get some genuinely good bots and weapons, so you'll have at least some fun while waiting for upgrades... RDB (Tulus and Pins) Griffin. Thunder Leo with Punishers and Pinatas. Keep the Cossack, learn how to get max beacons with it. Tulu or Punisher can do some damage. Choose one medium bot. Golem (fast to upgrade) or Boa (more HP than most heavy bots) are good. Patton is a long-run option, as you can make 4*Aphid Patton at some point. Get some Orkans and a Gold bot (I warmly recommend Gareth, based on last 2 weeks experience in Android Silver) before 5th slot, unless you really want to grind it or love Griffins.

All bots were level 7/8/9 weaponry. Any thoughts? Thanks! My wife also started her account a month ago, so you and her are in the same boat. Couple of pointed suggestions to help you move forward: You should be able to buy a Griffin. Do so. Arm it with punishers for now, tarans and magnums (plasma weapons from the workshop) once it's available to you (level 20). Buy a second Griffin. Arm it with Tulumbas and Pins OR punishers and pinatas, your choice. I'd limit the number of thunders you buy to 2 (maybe 3 total) and the number of tarans and magnums to 2 each (maybe 3-4 tarans). You want to start using the heavy bots that you have available and the Griffin is a top tier bot (one of a kind) that will see you all the way to 12/12 bots and weapons. Typical loadouts are RDB (Tulumbas and Pins), DB (Orkans and Pinatas), and PDB (Tarans and Magnums). I'd suggest all three in your hangar. (Note: the Orkan is an Au weapon, so some wait for fifth slot before purchasing... others buy 2 and then grind to fifth slot the choice is yours.) At this point pick one of your mediums to go with you (best choices are golem and boa), but don't level to far/fast. You probably will change them in for a premium bot sooner or later (Griffin, Lancelot, or Carnage). As always, happy hunting!! Dejnov.

Ah it seems that you've just ran into The Great Silver Wall of Android land. This is where the real game begins. Bronze league is nothing but a "tutorial". Here you have to fight your way to match these WSP and AU bots with your poorly leveled silver. We all been there, it aint easy but once you pack yourself 2x taran and 2x magnum, you should be able to compete normally.

Get some Griffin's to hold you over while you wait for work shop points & keep doing what your doing. If you keep an eye on the special offer timer you'll noticed I plowed through progression fast with this hanger and was outgunned from level 15 on. Just focus in playing well, a corner shooting golem is more effective than a Rhino that charges into a hail of rocket fire. Solid advice from everyone and I will add one more thing. Join the test server so you can try bots/weapons before you buy.

Since no one has mentioned it, the MM will try to stabilize you at a 50% win rate. Seems like this really kicks in at Silver and thus THE WALL of android.

Will take time to acquire the weapons that will even things out - magnums, tarans, but will get there eventually.

Not mentioned yet here: Molot Griffin is also a potential bot setup to choose. There will be increasing amount of Zeus and Tridents as you progress, with 600m effective range. RDB Griffin has only range 500m, so needs some good piloting to close the gap. Molot is very effective at 650-700m already. It also has some punch up close, which is necessary every now and then.
What makes Molots tempting is, Punishers tend to get replaced by Tarans and Magnums, while there's nothing which really replaces Molots (this doesn't mean they are necessary to have or even very good, just that they have unique effective range).
It's quite fast to upgrade stuff to level 3-4 for trying it out, but beyond that you should really think what you want to keep for longer term, especially when considering a 4 weapon sets for Griffin/Rhino. This is bit of guesswork so early (even with forum advice), as most weapons will start to show their true power (or lack of it) around level 7..8.

Thanks for the reply and information. So is gold farming a thing of the past? Lots of information online about that subject, which made it sound like a common practice. I've been purposefully trying to stick with certain bots and weapons so I did not bust out of the lower/Bronze tiers. If things have changed, then I need to rethink that for sure. Sounds like what you're saying is to be patient, play my game (learn the game) and good things will happen eventually.

Yeah, I've had a few invites, but have passed thus far just cause I felt too much like a noob. I need to read up on joining a clan; the rules and regs for taking such a step.

I wpuld suggest a Leo (maybe even 2, but I have a soft spot for the clunky 「illegitimate child」s). That big batch of hit points counts for a lot in the lower leagues.
And start saving for that 5th slot. It is more important than anything else you could save for, even if it will take you a couple of months. Once I added my 5th slot, my rating went up quite significantly.

Once I added my 5th slot, my rating went up quite significantly. Me too. I'm not a very good defensive/evasive player, so I need stuff that can eat a lot of hits before going down. Hopefully this will change in time and I'll be able to appreciate the joys of those little pee-dancing whirling dervishes. As for getting toasted, it seems to come in streaks. Sometimes I'll have strings of games where it seems that my team is down 4-1 beacons within seconds and all three of my bots are wasted in less than 5 minutes, and once in awhile I'll have a few games with just the right combination of bots where everything clicks. Maybe I can improve those averages by getting in a clan? I'm not as concerned about upping my rating as I am about not getting shredded in a matter of seconds. That makes me just want to throw something.

No more gold farming (at least unless you got your hangar to lvl10-12, but that's another story), and no more robot\weapon based tiers. Old information dies slowly on the Internet =) You even might find recommendation to buy Noricum-KangDae Natasha if you look hard enough :-D Basically, just read what ShaolinRogue sent you, and keep checking on WIKI, we are trying to keep it up-to-date. There are LOTS of quality information there. I personally recommend this one (you are too grown up for other guides, I think): warrobots.wikia.com/wiki/Strayed%27s_list_of_gold_purchases_from_highest_priority_to_lowestAnd yes, buy your slots prior to everything else. This information is still relevant.
