Many years ago I used to enjoy the Jim Rome radio show, and my first "modern" bulletin board experience was as a poster on the Jim Rome "Smackchat" message board.
I've mentioned in passing that we're going to be taking a more critical eye regarding the content of the Forum. Here's the TLDR:
1. When I came here late last year, this place had its dust-ups (clubbing), but the signal to noise ratio was much higher. A lot of knowledge changed hands, people learned, and got better.
2. Uncomfortable with the "at-whim" nature of moderation, I championed a sort of "three strikes" system of infractions and penalties
3. This came from a good place, but in the final analysis was an own goal. Those who contributed less to the forum (the trolls, the flamers, the malcontents) benefited far more from its protections than did the vast majority of good-faith posters who, let's face it, really didn't need protection
4. Shortly after, Pixo tagged a link to the Forum ingame, and the floodgates opened for a surge of new posters, many of whom were more accustomed to the trash-talking whingefest that is Facebook than the more measured and reasonable tone here
5. The rise of the trolls (point #3) and the flood of dross (point #4) coincided with the withdrawing of activity from some of the stronger posters from the board. Actually, probably not a "coincidence"
So in light of the increased curation of the board's content, it occurred to me that "Have a take and don't suck" was a pretty good adage.
Have a take. Have something to say. Don't just start another thread complaining about something that's been complained about to death. If you have issues with the matchmaker, for instance, discussion over the recently-changed league values is topical and relevant. The thousandth "matchmaker is bad" thread, probably less so.
Don't suck. Don't use this place as a personal therapist. It's not the Last Chance Saloon where you should unburden your soul of frustration and rage. That doesn't mean being a Personal Pixonic Propagandist. It does mean not burying a perfectly good point in a steaming pile of screed. Keep the unhinged negativity in check, and- when possible- try offering a solution rather than just identifying the problem.
My two bits.

Off topic, but Rome started locally on socal's Xtra 1090 when I was 19 or 20, back in 1993. I drove deliveries for UCSD as my campus job at the time and tuned in every afternoon. Good to see "have a take and don't suck" put to good use! Now you just need his buzzer, and a "rack him" button.

Chuck Norris - I fear the man who has practiced beating a dead horse 10,000 once, but I fear not the man who has stop beating the dead horse 10,000 times.

The quote under the OP's avatar is quite ironic given the title of this topic. Modeling ones' behavior after a man who earns a living screaming into a microphone is unadvisable for a true gentleman.

Have you ever listened to Jim Rome? He is a calculated, prepared professional and expects the same. 'Screaming into a microphone' doesn't begin to describe what it means to be sports broadcaster of his caliber.

While I agree with the statement and sentiment behind what Dredd and Jim Rome said, like TheGentleman , I don't care for Rome, either, and for pretty much the same reasons. While I don't clump him in with Stephen A Smith, Skip Bayless, and Colin Cowherd I do see him as a bit of a "quick take" artist. Could be just his delivery, but I found him to be off-putting when some of the local sports radio stations were experimenting with their morning drive broadcast schedules.

While I cannot comment about Jim Rome and his quality in broadcasting (or lack thereof), I do want to comment on TheGentleman's true point. You see, he has a mission. I believe he feels that the War Robots Forum has a distinct lack of "gentlemanly" behavior. It is his mission to educate and rehabilitate the common savages that post here, so that they can deliver arguments and counter arguments with aplomb and distinction, while still providing a polite environment for the general public that may stop by. Even if you wish to deliver a pointedly impolite assertion as to the level of another poster's character, he would like you to do so in a way that never comes out and says "YOU MONGREL!", but implies it with several layers of politeness. I, for one, appreciate his effort. His posts have a definite entertainment value and always bring a chuckle. However, I have to say, that while I applaud his effort, he has a loooong road ahead of him. Cuz i no ima strait foo an aint gon eva get all snooty and sh-... stuff. That said... I must say... "KEEP TRYING TheGentlemen!" We need as much sophistication as will stick, but even moreso, we need to see the other side for what it is, and appreciate our earthy, pithy, savageness for what it is! FYI, TheGentleman , spellcheck will help your crusade to enlighten us! No gentleman should have his posts ridiculed for inaccuracies. ( unadvisable... is inadvisable to use if coming from a pedestal of sophistication and enlightenment.) Jus sayin.

But I like him... some entertaining posts to say the least! In a sea of "woe is me, MM is my enemy, and please nerf it all to infinity" he brings laughter floaties to the party to keep us afloat!

The best thing about Jim Rome was when Jim Everett tossed him to the floor like a rag doll on his own show.

Terrarium TV is gradually ending up being the world's first decision to observing free motion pictures and TV demonstrates on the web. The spilling application has outperformed ShowBox, Netflix and Amazon Prime, and its astonishing highlights and brisk accessibility of administrations just makes excitement simpler to drop by. The application has been around for lesser time than most different contenders yet it is as of now climbing the stepping stools of accomplishment, and it just has the fast updation of substance and convenient updates with an ever increasing number of aggressive highlights to thank: terrariumtvdownload.co/
