1. What do you do in randoms to not get pulverized by aphids other than hugging walls? 2. What is a good random hanger structure? 3. How do i carry random teams?(read: how to play effectively)

1. heading backwards at 45 degrees is your best bet at dodging aphids. 2. 1 capper, 2 kf's, 1 mrs and use the last slot to whatever tickles your fancy. 3. take the beacons, be the first and last line of defense, always be the one leading the charge, don't be timid about taking damage.

1. Move horizontally when you know they are about to fire, then proceed to close the gap.
2. 2 knife fighters (heavy hitters with missiles to take out the big boy threats and support your team aggressively), 2 power runners preferably not missiles, as these are mainly for taking out other power runners and beacon cappers (plasma Galahad, PDB Rhino, Thunder Carnage ect.)1 midrange (I use RDB Griffin for midrange with randoms and only take out big threats, then eject).
3. Make sure you maintain beacon dominance on the beacon bar, when you feel like you are winning play conservatively (kill as much as possible taking as little damage as possible), when they attempt to regain beacon control aggressively play out your midranger, when they are still pushing but with weaker force, bring out your heavy knife fighters and contest them.

1. Start moving sideways when you think they're about to fire, this won't guarantee 100% evasion if your bot isn't quick enough. When in a Galahad with shield facing forward, move backwards along aphid trajectory to make sure the missiles hit your shield only.
2. 1 mid ranger (e.g. trident fury, rdb griff), 2 knife fighters (preferably dbs with ork & pinatas), 1 or 2 plasma runners which can serve as beacon cappers, apply a bot that compliments your play style for the last spot if you prefer only 1 plasma runner. (A long range bot would fit nicely)
3. Don't let the enemy have leverage over your team if possible, try to have control over 3 beacons. After that, it's up to you and your teammates keep the beacons while maintaining constant pressure on the enemy. If you see an opportunity to steal beacons, take it. Don't be afraid to take damage, just make sure you give more than you receive.

My personal method for dealing with Aphids to count up to 10 from the salvo and make sure to be running full speed 90 degrees (side strafing) the user at about 300 metres. It's possible in medium bots (34 kmph) but heavier bots will have problems, my boa unfortunately is weak to aphids.
If you let them get too close then you'll have problems dodging, also be aware that some good players will let off aphids individually to lure you.

But yes, speed is key when evading aphids so gala's shield should be put to the left when sidesurfing.(if you guys prefer the damage to be on the bot)

For 3, I think the key is a map management. If you move the front line forward, your teammates can move forward as well and cap beacons. To do that, I tend to play fairly aggressively. You really don't know what kind of teammates you get so you have to make it easy for them. Sometimes, your teammates are so bad that they refuse to move at all. Then you really cannot do anything. Also, in order to manage the front line, you need to know the map. Learn to use nook and cranny of each map to minimize damage taken while dealing maximum damage. I have compiled a list of vantage points on each map in the old forum. I have not updated that thread, but I have found a few more positions. warrobots.wikia.com/wiki/Thread:75309As an example, one position I like to take on Shenzhen in the below video (1:30 - 2:45). It gives me cover and it's within capture range of enemy side beacon so red team has to physically come and destroy me to recap it.

1. As an avid Aphid user, the harder targets are the bots that are in motion. One of the things I look for in targets are stationary bots, the bigger the better or higher threats....these bots will get the full effect of the aphid shot. When the red bot is in motion, I usually have to cycle the aphid as it has the best chance of inflicting the most damage...when you are stationary, all go at once.
3. You can either compete with your blue teammates (ie, both race to the same beacons) and potentially lose the match or figure out how to win with them in those 10 minutes you have. Separate to nab at least 3 beacons at the start, and then regroup and try stay with other teammates. The toughest matches against Randoms that I have are when the red bots stay in groups of 2's and 3's and try to focus their firepower on key threats while advancing to get beacons or defending beacons. It's always tough playing with Randoms, especially against organized squads.
Good luck! Cheers!

Thank you for the tips everyone!
For 1, i will just try to move sideways. Need to train my reflexes tbh. For 2, i can sometimes cap beacons with kfs(not enough good cappers atm) so i'll take it as 4 cqc and 1 support.
