Just out of curiosity, what do people think is the best capper? I always like to start my matches in something that will give my team the upper hand beacon-wise. Up above, I have some of the most common bots I see as a capper/fast starter. Please leave a comment if you have any other capper ideas or any specific weapon recommendations.

Gareth and Galahad are the best practical beacon cappers. Cossacks and Stalkers do work, but they get melted off the map whenever they get get exposed.

That little Gareth annoys me more than that little Stalker does. I don't think I've ever destroyed a Gareth unless someone else had already destroyed its shield. I hate that robot... and can't wait to get one of my own. I'd have enough gold to get one by now if I hadn't opened chests.

The Gareth is an awesome capper, it's fast and great at defending .. second is a toss up between the Gepard and the Jesse.. both are fast, and both also are decent at defending .. Gepard has 3 light-points, Jesse 4 .. both armed with Aphids can hit fairly hard.. but overall the Gareth is the best at capping.

Well yeah... the Galahad is the big brother sister of the Gareth... so that makes sense. But I'm in no rush to start winning a lot and to leave Silver league. I'm not ready to face a bunch of level 10, 11 and 12 hangars everyday. Level 7, 8 and 9 hangars are already too hard for me to beat. I don't want to be a fast beacon capper yet.

Rogatka because it has jump ability.

Stalker has 2 light harspoint, not medium as in the poll (2 Orkans or Tarans Stalker awesome though).

Rhino or Galahad. Get to the beacon even if hit by at TT Fury Salvo and can cap non-contested and contested beacons

Voted Rogatka. Extremely close tie between it and Gareth though. The Rog has the land speed to dodge and juke a ton of damage, with jump being a great boon at getting there as well as GTFO there. I don't have an issue with being sniped while jumping, but I don't jump needlessly in wide open spaces.
I primarily run mine with dual Orkans. The amount of firepower it provides is really nice, really hurts brit bots (the most frequent cappers you come across, what a coincidence) and really takes advantage of the Rogs speed as the shot can be lead and delayed easily while so still doing damage to targets just behind cover. Tarans are super nice as well, have 50m more range and of course ignore anciles all together which is great (probably clutch when the dash mkII is released), but their need for more direct fire puts you more in direct fire as well, which I am not a fan of for a capper/ambusher. Also, the Rog's speed allows you to rather quickly and easily run inside the ancile of say a Lancilot or Pothead Leo circle strafe them to death while they try to track you in futility. Should they get lucky and make it to a wall, either circle back the other way or simply jump away and find a new beacon/target.
The Gareth has the land speed as well as shield to dodge, juke or just block damage straight up, but it's too little firepower for me. Plasma's it's best bet, like that Galahad, and also it's only real option, unlike the Galahad, as a single medium hardpoint rocket or missile and a single light hardpoint rocket and missile just don't do enough damage. At least the Galahad has another light hardpoint to play with.

It depends on your playstyle. To be fair, Pilot War Robots's got a legitimate point. Some people believe that in order to cap a beacon, you must also be able to stay and defend it for some arbitrary amount of time. I believe that to cap a beacon, you simply need to flip it blue. What you choose to do from that point on differentiates you from say a 'capper' to a 'claimer'. If I'm trying to lay claim to a beacon (be a claimer) by flipping it and then staying there, then I'm choosing a different robot that has more staying power than a Rogatka and more firepower than a Gareth, like a Galahad. If I'm trying to cap beacons, then I need the speed and manueverabilty to get to one of my choosing, some HP to survive a bit of damage along the way or while there and the firepower to force an enemy off of it while I cap it. For that, I choose my Rogatka.

I voted Rog too but I tend to start in my Jesse. It's great at claiming the beacons near home and then very good at chucking aphids around to deter bots from approaching from a certain direction. But I prefer the Rog as a recapture bot. He's fast and can kill an ancileot to take a beacon.
Thunder carnage is very good at recapturing beacons at the end of a game too.
