First priority, save your gold for 4th slot.
Do your daily missions, you get gold from them, capturing beacons, doing most damage and levelling up.
Game objectives, kill bots capture beacons. The player with most captures gets 5 gold and most damage gets 5 gold.
Each map tends to spawn you between two side beacons, go get them. If your team aren't getting the other side, go get it.
The Cossack is great for capturing, all the light bots are good for it.
You can change your daily mission twice a day, the third time will cost you gold.
For now, don't speed up your upgrades unless you are buying gold.
Dont use far range weapons till you are really good at the game.
Don't buy zenits, Natasha, noricom, kwk, trebuchet, gecko, etc. All of these are far range weapons. They are more of a detriment than a benefit at your current tier.
Mid range weapons, 500-600m are fine.
If in doubt, level weapons but not bots. Can post here for more help regarding hangar optimisation.
The button below the shoot button is target lock. You can tap it again to switch between other targets.
Missiles are great.
Learn the effective range of your weapons, and roll over red bots to see their distance from you.
Learn to corner shoot, shooting redsby hiding behind a obstacle with just your weapons poking out.
Try ray not to fight 2 or more bots or bots with better or more weapons than you when you are alone.
Just some of the things I wish I know as a newbie. Hope this helps, someone better can help you with hangar.

As stated, hunt those beacons and stay away from multiple red engagenent if possible, until you are a proficient at using your bots.
Put a thunder on that schutze asap, then get another set up just like it. Do not start firing until you are 150m or less, less is better. Use cover and get close. Avoid other bots with thunders and target golems, pattons and vitz that have long range cannons and mixed guns/spirals. Dance around them and take them down in a hurry. Also, while you are capturing the above mentioned beacons, hunt the fast movers, especially cossacks. If you take out reds ability to capture beacons fast, it is easier to control beacons.
Also, a punisher on your cossack will help a bit. Engage at 250m or less
Please, please, please....for the love of (insert entity of your choice here), DO NOT buy a heavy, or even a medium bot...yet. You will only increase the strength of opponents matched against you.
Best gold, for me, is all light bots, cossacks and schutze. Fast for beacon capture gold, and the schutze/thunder combos brings red death in a hurry. Mediums sacrifice speed, and thus beacon capture numbers go down.
Upgrade to 3/5 (bot level/weapons levels), learn corner shoot and advance using cover.
Do not waste that gold. 4th slot is your next purchase. Then you should consider weapons purchases, as they will do you greater good than a shiny new bot (well, Gepards are money bots when equipped right). An Orkan on a cossack is handy, as is a Tulum, but you'll need to learn to use them effectively.
The longer range your weapons, the less damage you are going to deal per match (for now), and the AU and AG earnings will go down.
Don't follow in game recommended upgrades or speed ups.
When you start earning wsp, spend on weapons first. Mags and Tarans. Again, weapons will help you more early on than a shiney new rhino or spider, lol. Do not waste any gold on buying wsp.

Also, you should be aware that soon its going to get harder. At level 4 you are in rookie tier, and protected from most "seal clubbers". At 5 or 6 you are thrown to the wolves.... mainly rogues and packs of magnum, aphid or pinata wielding gepards, out to farm gold ruthlessly. If you see a trimag gepard, find other space to occupy, lol.

Golems are easy targets for the thunder schutze. They are pretty, but wide and easy targets. Like I said, do not buy/use a medium or heavy yet. You will upset the match maker, bump yourself up in tiers and have a horrible time because match maker cares only about the your most powerful bot/weapon combo. If you pair underpowered light bots with a medium or heavy, your underpowered bots will suffer and not be able to last as well in the battle because you were matched for the strongest bot. It would be especially bad if you jumped into a Galahad, Gareth, lancelot or any wsp bot (match maker 'penalty' for using them). Do not do it, yet. It will end up sitting in storage while you fix the rest of your hanger to compete, and that sets you back. A gepard would be a better choice, if you really must. But trust me you can save the gold for now and focus on getting 4 slots and filling it with a good workhorse set up.
Ultimately, out of all the bots in my inventory, I spend the most time in cossacks, schutze and boas. Yes I have gareth, and Galahad, and lance, and Gepards, and rogatka, and fury, and.....
Still, these are my money bots.
4/6 cossack/taran 4/6 cossack/Orkan 4/6 schutze/thunder 1/7-8 gepard/mag or Pinata or aphid
I have 5 slots. I typically run 2 cossacks and 3 schutze for farming gold. This set up regularly brings gold, and can really wreck red team. I just had a match where I used 4 of my bots and had over 500k damage and 11 kills (red team had a total of 18 bots) and 3 beacons.
For you 1 coss, 2 schutze. When you get slot 4, your choice..another coss or schutze, what ever will fill your needs.
Seems boring, but it works. Earning gold is a grind and part of the game. You can't earn gold effectively with medium range weapons and standing back taking pot shots from 350-600m. You have to get into the action and get kills, you have to cap beacons, and often you have to carry the battle to victory because your team mates are about as useful as inflatable flailing arm thingies.
Pay off is in damage dealt and beacons captured. You need speed and fire power to constantly make top player/gold. Use the cossack to capture 2-3 beacons as fast as possible. Then suicide on the nearest major threat. Do not make the mistake of trying to stay in the cossack too long. Get the beacons, do as much damage as fast as possible, then get out. Jump into a thunder schutze and start the killing, recapping beacons as needed. This is how you (I) get 10 gold most of the time. Actually I do a lot of killing with the cossack, but with a taran and corner shooting, not a punisher.
These setups will get you there. You will likely play these for a long time while you assemble a silver tier hanger (including that galahad...or two).
Trust me...do not jump into other bots yet. You will just end up a crispy critter before you know it. Players who roll out in that new Golem, Vitz, Griffen, Leo etc are how I am putting all my bots through college, lol. Don't be fodder for me and others. When you have light bots in the 4/5 or 4/6 range, I would say it's OK to pair 1/5 mediums. Generally you want light bots 3 bot levels and 2 weapons levels higher than medium. And same for the mediums over the heavies. Mediums are barely useful at 1/5, but mostly frustrating. Hold off until you can roll out mediums at 3/5 or better.
Seriously, I wish I had come here for advice as early as you did. I am just starting to use my 2 galahads (takes time to level them and weapons up to a useful level), and have only played a few test matches with my fury. I've had them a couple months now. I learned real quick I was way out of my league all of a sudden and needed to build up weapons and other bots before jumping in and getting fried in a minute or less. So I back tracked, shelved all the new bots, came here and started over on my strategy. Bought some of the not so pretty bots and learned to use them fairly effectively.

The missiles you asked about are probably aphids.
And jumping over a gepard will just make the gepard pilot laugh while he shoots you down.
Congratz on your high score and gold haul.

Ok so im lvl 11 now and i have a few questions First off heres my hanger right now Im currently 300 gold away from my 4th slot Once i get my 4th slot i want to buy 2 aphids for a destrier i dont want to spend hold on gepar because i want to have a solid lineup asap. Should i switch out a destrier for a cossack? Also i want to buy a patton and put 4 pinatas on it.and since pinatas are level 5 already i wont have to upgrade them and the same goes for patton I want to stay in the tier that im in now so should i keep my weapons at 5 or 6? And i know light bots can be upgraded to level 4 so im doing that now

If you feel you need a Cossack in your lineup for those fast beacon captures, then go for it. Bring the second destrier back in on the action after you get the 4th slot. Then start saving for those Aphids.
I'd still advise on holding off on that Patton until you find your current tier a bit on the easy side, but your plan is very efficient. Pinata Pattons deadly, one-hit-kill bots when levelled correctly, albeit with "Glass Cannon" syndrome.
But if you have the silver to spare, and reeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaally want a shiny new Patton, I don't see the harm in picking one up. Nothing wrong with taking a peek right? Just beware you will be raised up the Tiers, and will be facing tougher opponents. If so, and your hangar/skills aren't up to that yet, just store it, because you will roll it out later on, it won't be a wasted purchase.

apollo I don't recommend you to buy aphids just yet. They don't work that great in LOW BRONZE (the tier you are in now). Rather think on purchasing 5th slot if you really wish to stay in that tier. When you decide to move up into silver and gold tier, you will find Orkans to be an effective weapon and a great purchase for your hard-earned gold. You can upgrade your bots to 4 and weapons to 6 and still be in the same tier. Buying a Patton with pinatas will push you into HIGH BRONZE (4/9 light bots, 4/6 medium bots), so don't buy any medium bots till you feel you are ready to move up.

I second what was said above, all good advice.
Also, remember you play the game to have FUN! I had to completely retool my hanger to become effective & move up tiers. I have 3 full hangers from lights to heavys, but 1 bot that still sits from one my early mistakes is a level 8 Griffin. I have 3 other Griffins all still level 6.
Point is! have fun and be mindful that the MM system looks only at your heaviest bot to match your opponents. If you puchase that patton early, have fun with it but expect the rest of your light bot hanger to get pummeled. The reds you face will have a hanger (full) of medium bots, not just 1.
I have tried all types of bots and weps, find out what you like! One of the great things about this game is the variety of bots & weapons.

It will take time to get that galahad and supporting hanger competitive. Don't jump the gun. Your doing great. Galahad will add 20% matchmaker penalty to your strongest bot score . Believe me when I say it is an eye opener the first time you go charging into battle with it. Thought it would be glorious. It was, for about 45 seconds. There are a couple good videos recently posted, dude is using his gareth quite effectively and narrates the battle well. Find them and watch them for tips piloting a sheild bot. For other hanger slots, a Boa is very handy in the same tier your Galahad is going to initially put you in. A leveled up cossack or schutze can also still be useful in some lower silver matches, but stalkers tend to rule roost. Gareth of course is a perfectly complementary light bot and tough as nails.
Get your scores up to 400k+ damage when every other player is 1-200k. Then it's easy....and only when you don't get matched against a vet, a clubber or against 2-3 half decent players.
Good job. Hope to see you in some matches soon.
And thank you CAMPER and others for the backup.

Instead of making a new thread... I used search. Turns out I'm not far off of apollo so I thought I'd reuse this thread. Just downloaded the other night. I remember MechWarrior II - specifically the Ghost Bear's Legacy expansion - very fondly, so this caught my eye. I also am an active World of Tanks Blitz player so I get capping beacons and I can use cover. So I made some obvious newbie mistakes - I bought a Vityaz (or something) for my third bot and immediately got put in a higher tier and annihilated by Gepards. I came and found this forum and figured out I need to put the Vit away to stay in low tier and now I'm trying to fix my garage. I bought the Gepard offer for $ 7 (Canadian)since that was what blew me away. Looking for some help. Sounds like I should ditch the Destriers for at least one schutze and another Cossack or maybe 2 Schutze? I've learned by reading that I should leave the bots low level and upgrade the weapons. My Gep is 1/5/5/5 (with the stock weapons it comes with... I don't even know what they are) and I love it's burst damage. The weapons on the Destriers and Cossack are all 2-4. The far left one is punishers, the far right one is um... missiles. Suggestions on what bots with what weapons would be great. How high should I level the weapons? Does the Gepard at 1/5/5/5 bump me up a tier? Thanks in advance for any help!

Yup the 1/5 [bot level/weapon level] Gepard is bumping you up a tier. Upgrade your gepard to 2/6, and the rest of your bots to 4/6. At bot lvl 2 and below it has been stated by several members of the community that the gepard seems to lose weapons less often than gepard levelled above lvl 2. Anyway the gepard has its capped max speed right from lvl 1 so the 2 bot levels won't make much of a difference. best cheap bots in LOW BRONZE (which caps out at 4/6 light bots) are: Taran Cossack, and Thunder Schutze.

lephturn, gepards are like the IS-3D of wot, don't level them beyond 2 though, or don't level them at all, they are great for getting quick gold aka seal clubbing when you advance into higher tiers where they are significantly less useful. Seal clubbing is generally frowned upon since its experienced players picking off newbies, but I just want to say the Gepard will not be that great at higher tiers compared to the options is out there, so might as well be efficient in your bot usage and leave it at low levels.

Thanks Zues ! Yeah I played a bunch tonight and basically just ran the gep as purchased. Wow, that thing is OP as hell! I ripped through everything and was almost always the highest level guy. It was almost not fun it was so easy. Once I blew through level 15 I started getting tougher matchups and actually lost a couple. These guys have to fix the in game suggestions since they lead you astray and anyone who finds the forums will smash the noobs all day long. Uh, I'm level 20 now so maybe things will get harder?

I Thanks for all advice but i still have a few questions What should i put on my golem? Try Taran/Magnum/Thunder or Pinata/Orkan/ThunderWhich medium bot should i buy next? Try Boa with Taran/Thunder, very high HP, hard to kill, and easy to upgrade its weapons.Whats the best thing to buy with my gold? 5th Slot first, Then 4x Orkans, then either Lancelot, Galahad, Fury or Aphids. Depending on your hangar then. How do i join a clan? Once you hit lvl15, check out any clans in the clan thread, and apply there. Or just join the War Robots community on FB and ask there. And whats should i be upgrading? Upgrade your weapons to level 7-8, make sure these weapons you will use in the future for heavy bots, as the cost will get much more expensive and time consuming.Pls tell me adap so i can perform well and get a galahad Do not get a Galahad until your bots are all high silver or heavy bots. If not the Galahad will make you vs much more harder opponents.Replies in RED.
