Well, the event has been very kind to me. Between the tasks and chests I now have a hanger overflowing with gear. I've pretty much settled on builds for the first four slots in my hanger (two Gals, a Lance, and a RDB Griff), and I've been using the fifth slot to experiment. Problem is, I now have too many options for that fifth slot! I've been liking a TT Fury (dealing death from a distance), but also enjoy the challenge of piloting a Rhino. Assuming you are in my situation (where you already have three good knifers/brawlers and a mid-range support bot), which of the above builds would you prefer to have in your fifth slot?

Replace your Russian Griffin with a Trident Fury and your 5th slot should either be another Lancelot or a Griffin, preferable Aphid Orkan.

My #1 tip is to go for what is fun for you--even if it is not the most effective. It is a game after all. That said, here is what I would do.
With the mid-range covered (and a RDB buff coming in the next patch) there is no need for the Fury, Natasha, gekko patton, or Spydra Griffin. That leaves the rhino, gepard, gareth, and stalker. The gepard and stalker are annoying but get blasted pretty hard in this mid-range heavy environment. The gareth gets blasted by mid-range too but the shield makes him slightly more competitive.
That leaves the rhino. This sucker is hard to pilot but it works quite well to pop those aggravating ancile pimples. Just walk in, lower the shield, and unload justice onto their face. You can also force galahads to keep their shield to the front using the magnums. This slows them down just enough so that your orkans have a better chance of hitting them.
Good luck

I went with Zeus Fury. I never, ever thought I'd have any interest in one whatsoever. But I won one from chests on my Android account, and have been loving the big lug.

Yeah, I ran this build for a while and really liked it. The big 'zzzztttt' of death. It's easier to hit with than Tridents, but unfortunately won't shoot around corners. Love trident splash for digging out campers on center beacon at Yam and Springfield.

Only problem is, I'm a thousand WSP from completing my Treb Butch, and I don't want to drop too many knifers.

Carnage (or fury) trident to replace the rdb perhaps, then a Gareth to fulfill beacon cap and harass tasks? Would say it heavily depends on your play style and which maps you enjoy. The extra 100m range on tridents is pretty huge.

Good luck Your post got me thinking about the comparison between a RDB and TT Fury. I was surprised at how close the burst damage is between the two (about 42k at lvl 8). However, the TT Fury has the advantage of range, reload time, and splash diameter, so on open maps it has a bit of an edge. The only real advantage of the RDB is mobility, so it can go find targets on maps with lots of cover (also helps it evade on-rushing reds). I tend to use these two builds very differently: TT Fury as overwatch on center beacon at Yam, SF, Canyon, and sometimes Shen, while I use the RDB as direct support for my blue knifer buddies.

Fun factor is indeed important: carnage can fill that role....dual thunders are fun. That bot, as an added positive will teach you patience, something you need a lot of in higher leagues if that interests you.

I say plasma gareth, and like someone further up said - if you have it replace the RDB with the trident fury.
I don't have the fury as an option myself - but often run two galahads and a gareth (and usually a lance and stuka griff to round out the five).
Having had a gareth for a while now, if anything gets replaced, it is the second galahad that goes rather than the gary.

I ran a tt fury for a while and yes it is very effective on open maps I found it too boring and ineffective on the tight maps. I like rdbs but they're not punchy enough and I hate the staggered reload times between pins and tulus. I'm running a quad tulu doc right now. 80000 damage per Salvo on a platform that can move faster than a max galahad is really fun to play and very useful on all maps. It's a good support bot that can cap beacons as well and fast enough to have targets all the time. Something furies don't always have. It's just a Lil squishy ya gotta be cagey when running docs. I run expert lvl but often champ with my clan mates and it holds up well as long as you stay out past 400m. I like taking out max thunder lances in two salvos leaving them with a sliver of health or sneaking up to furies or Tasha and messing up their day. Is it the best option? Maybe not but it's the most fun I've had playing the game since the new matchmaking. Once the tulu buff goes live watch out lol.

I picked Plasma Gary because that is one fun build. If you had had Trident Carnage to choose from, I would have considered that, but lately I've been rotating out my MR and have settled back on the RDB, and you have that already.
I have both versions of the MR Fury covered, and I like Zeus more, but I hate that bot. Playing it, and facing it. Carny is more fun... but RDB is better on short maps like PP and DC, and Moon. Either way, whichever MR you choose... nothing plays like the Gary in the role it is meant for, and I have had some very bad games get turned around by bringing this lil monster out and cappin' and scrappin'.

Lotsa love for Gary, I see. I may have to level him up and give him another go. I tried running him as a mini-Galahad, but that didn't work so well. Guess he needs to be a bit more elusive and pick his battles carefully.
My Griff was a regular DB while I was in Gold, but I was having trouble keeping him alive in Diamond, thus the switch to RDB. Haven't run the Stuka build very much. Might be fun to try once I get my bots & weaps leveled up a bit more.

Don't go starting fights unless it's to sucker punch and run . You can Jump into fights already started though. Good gareth pilots arn't honorable fighters. You gotta play dirty. I find the best gareth build is plasma but mini DBS are good too but I find your dps goes way down when not using plasma on gary
