I think that an Hellfire Rhino with a Taran Ancilot Sticked on his Back is the most durable combination with best mix of Plasma Splash.
I also like Thunder Carnage and Taran Ancilot for the better manoeuvrability of the the Carnage that helps dealing with Ancile and can Rush suddenly from behind the Ancilot cover to Flank the target/s
Both the combos have a good fit for slotting in the weapons of the bot on cover

Any bot with a Ancile Taran Lancelot is a good combo.
But if you want to know the best ones it is: Thunder Orkan Lancelot - Ancile Taran Lancelot Plasma Galahad - Thunder Carnage

Hugging together a Wall is fundamental in certain situations. Galahad - Carnage lack Splash Protection since Carnage shield is too weak to provide for both robot

Get yourself a coordinated squad and drop those two bots at the same time. The weakness of the Thunder Orkan Lancelot is that it cannot get to beacons without getting killed by a Death Button. The weakness of the Ancile Lancelot is that it cannot clear the beacon in a short amount of time. That combo is not meant to be the shield-gunner firing position. When you engage in that combo, the Thunder Lancelot wants to hop out of the Ancile and attack from both sides. As for the Galahad and Carnage thing, those are both flanker bots. Again, the Carnage shield is not meant to be heavily relied on like the Lancelot. Piloting those two bots isn't the methodical Galahad at point, and Carnage at the back. Both those bots can outrun Death Button setups, one better than the other and the they can usually deal with Plasma bots effectively.

Ditto with @darkangel12s. Double Lance is a beast. The firepower and defensive capability is very hard to break. Even Double Ancilots is hard side by side the Ancile will cover both bots or both bots can go around each other during the reload cycle.

While I have never squaded (perhaps sometime some folk will have the patience to work with me on team play) I do occasionally get the opportunity to team with another Ancilot while pugging. They can be hard as a coffin nail driving through 3 to 4 bots at a time in some cases. Even in tight quarters they can be brutal if they're mindful and shift to share the duties.

Depends on the league.
So far (Silver III & II), I have best experience with double DB Griffin. Nothing is safe, perfect against Raijins, Leos, Rhinos, Lancelots. We don't meet Ancilots so far, but should be able to knock single Ancile + Lancelot in one round as well (all lvl 12).

They're Lancelots, they don't hide behind each other. They both have physical shields, and they just need to be near each other for one Ancile to cover both. The Galahad/Carnage combo doesn't run into crowds at center beacon it's a fast group for flanking. It is near unstoppable for taking down enemies one at a time on the flanks. Carnage shield is enough to stop one DB salvo or load of Aphids, which is all it takes. Or Galahad fronts against plasma.
