I'm not sure how popular this build is, but played right I believe it is effective to win games.
My tips:
1. This bot is mostly for support purposes and should be used to defend other bots. The more bots near to you the better as your shield will provide coverage for them as well.
2. Show yourself to rocket opponents and try to get their attention. Use your shield to soak up their offense. This will mean less rockets flying towards other unprotected Blues.
3. Keep a close eye out for Plasma Griffins and Thunder Carnages. These are your main enemies. Be sure to sit behind cover when attacked by plasma and corner shoot with the Taran.
4. If you go solo then know your opponent. If all rockets then it's fine, go head on and charge all guns blazing. The Ancile should preferably be at least level 7 but it is still very effective at lower levels.
5. The Golem is not too slow at 42kmph so use its speed. I've taken down many a tough but slower Plasma opponent by using a column or doodad as cover and circling around these. Whittle them down with superior corner shooting abilities.
6. If ambushed by a Plasma build and there is no cover then go down guns blazing. Mark down such enemies for a revenge take down using some other build.
7. Played right you can last the whole game and be a real pest to the Reds. Don't get caught in the open. Stay alive!

Who cares if a single bot lasts the whole game!!
Get the beacons, use the ancil to protect you on the way to the beacons, use the plasma to kill other bots trying to get the beacons.
If you die, do the same with the next bot.

While I won't be as harsh as some to say about lasting a whole game, I agree with some mentality to preserve your life. Too often I see teams just rushing to capture as many beacons as they can and die off in process. While I won't agree with your aim of "last the whole game", I agree to preserve each bot to outlast your enemy. Yes it does not make sense to try to last the whole game if you aren't any use. But the thing about the Ancile is that it recharges, and a fully recharged Ancile, even if the bot has low HP, can still be very effective. And so I advocate a retreat and recharge strategy to get back in there and cause Reds more inconvenience. The Golem is a pest, but over the length of a game I feel can change the tide by sticking in there. I like to emphasize the 'support' role. I strictly hang back and harass, and I leave the charging to others. Beacon capping is not for the Golem really. But one thing I find interesting about the Golem, which I've not mentioned in my original tips, is that it's sort of wide enough to use from behind a narrower bot. If I see a Rhino I try get up close from behind and I have actually been able to shoot from both sides. The Rhino then gets protected by its own shield and my Ancile, making for a chimera of most excellent firepower. |

Why not try the Ancile/Thunder Carnage? From what you've described, the Ancile/Thunder is a better build. With the energy shields stacked, a DB setup or Trident Fury has zero chance against you. I've killed every rocket and missile setup in this build and provided the strongest possible energy shield protection to my teammates while still having offensive capability. You may may not know this but a single L12 Thunder can deplete and maintain at zero an L12 Ancile. So, I can easily kill your Ancile Golem with my Ancile/Thunder Carnage by zeroing out your Ancile at 350m and then just come up under cover to under 200m. I'd just use my Rush at that time and kill you easily in under 10 seconds (as your Ancile just won't regen enough --- with just 1 Thunder and zero protection against your Taran/Mag. I'll say this openly, the Ancil Golem is not a good build and I would not recommend it at all. Heck, how do you stop or run away from a Gareth or even a Stalker? At least a Carnage can run away under Rush, but the Golem? |

At least a Carnage can run away under Rush, but the Golem? Well I view the Thunder Carnage as a bot for a different purpose. First of all it cannot corner shoot. Any offensive must be made by exposing the whole bot, and it is quite vulnerable to Plasma because of this. Like with all bots it is effective when you pick your targets proper. The double Ancile Carnage is overkill IMO unless you are meeting a lot of TT Fury's. No doubt a Thunder Carnage can wrap up an Ancile Plasma Golem in seconds. That's why I've said watch out for them. But I think the purpose of the two bots are different. When I play with the Golem I avoid going solo, but I hang back, whittle away the enemy and provide shielding. That's the primary purpose. I shoot from behind cover and I avoid confrontations. The Thunder Carnage play is quite different. Confrontation and offensive play is essential. So really, horses for courses you know. |

I hate to say, i really don't think that i would want you on a team that i was on. You seem to be overly protective of a bot that is not going to be effective in combat. Essentially you have a medium with the armament level of a gareth and less speed.
You are also going to spend a lot if time recharging rather than damaging reds. I can understand the use of this bot to protect from trident fury on the way to an objective, but support is not the right place for it.
Consider pinata ork ancil. At least your recharging shield and weapons at the same time.

I'll give it a try later tonight (just finished a War Robots marathon, phew). After not playing Golem for months I maxed one a couple weeks ago because I wanted something maxed and it's the quickest to max. I usually play Trident-Tulumba-Pin or Thunder-Orkan-Pinata and find it surprisingly competent. I think people are thinking 'Golem, ha, easy silver' so bots rush me but a maxed Golem has as much HP as a level 9 Griffin, and where I play (iOS gold1 to diamond3) there aren't many Griffins that high.
Most of my weapons are level 6-8, bots 7-9, and I can play in diamond1 but got so bored there switched to fun bots and always switching up hangar and setups. Ancile plasma Golem I haven't tried yet so definitely will. I saw a Ancile Ecu Taran Golem on my team once. Tried to follow to see how she does but the battle split us up.
