I'm never shore if I should block mid and long range weapons with my Galahads shield or wether to keep that for close range as I have trouble taking on PDB griffins repeatedly as my shield breaks.
*I will do another for short range*

Block everything except splash damage, which your should run or dodge if possible. Your hp is more valuable than the shield hp.

I use it to head straight for the campers running long range plasma/lightning. Zues/carnages and treb/natties are my favorite victims.

Avoid the fire, if you can. Block it with your shield if you can't avoid. When would it ever be an advantage to spare your shield and take the hit to HP instead? -Amid

Sorry, my dilemma is that on bigger maps I'm not sure whether to take long range fire, which is usually nashorn and Kang dae, on my bot or shield health. This is because my Galahad is only level 7, just upgraded from 6, and my shield will not last that long at close range and after that my bot dies very quickly. What I wanted to know was, should I take the damage from gekkos etc that are usually 10-15k max on my bot health to preserve the shield health or am I just using the shield too much? Hope that helps

Hope that helps If you can, always sacrifice shield health first. Think about it this way. You die when your HP goes to zero, regardless of how much HP is in your shield. If your shield gets broken, when you die it will have consumed the entirety of your potential HP. If you die with an unbroken shield, you had the potential to block more damage but didn't. How are you served by preserving shield health at the expense of HP? Those plasma bots don't have any harder of a time bringing you down. -Amid

Your blue team mate can't pick up your undamaged shield if your Galahad die.

Block everything but whenever possible use cover. It's that simple. The only time to lower the shield when in combat is when you are backpedaling orkans.

Whereas the other way around, its a trap for you. Relatively minor advantage, but it can be useful when engaging carnages and other plasmabots who think you are low already. 99% of the time I agree on preserving health at the expense of shield though.

The shield is precisely for getting the beacons on open maps and not getting damage from snipes... as well as the short range weapons on short maps. Preferably, though, I use the Gary on the open maps and use speed to get from cover to cover with the shield as the lil' helper to get me from cover to cover safely.
