I will admit right off the bat that I'm frustrated with the game right now. Whatever is going on with matchmaking has hit me hard and I'm struggling to win games at any reasonable pace. Before this week I was able to consistently run an 80% win rate... now it's heading towards 50%. Honestly, it seems like the system is expecting me to carry my team, which I can't do with flaky allies and opponents who are sporting mechs and weapons 2+ levels higher than mine. So I end up being the highest scoring player on the losing side, which then seems to carry over to the next match in a negative way.
Enough with the complaining. Here's what I have:
- All five slots open - Pretty much any weapon (Ag, Au, wsp) at level 7 - Most Ag weapons levels 1-6 - Any Ag bot up to level 6 except Golem - 1 lvl 4 Rogatha (which I very much regret spending my hard-earned gold on) - 1 lvl 4 Gepard
I can't run any bot with all level 7 weapons without things going sideways (even running all lvl 2-3 lights with lvl 7 weapons pits me against 6+/5+ heavies and higher level meds/lights). The problem here is that all my good weapons (mags, tarans, zeus, aphids, etc) have been levelled up to 7.
I know more changes to matchingmaking are coming (which sound ominous when they talk about basing it on "player achievements" because I can't undo my 1500+ wins), but in the meantime I would like to run a relatively efficient hangar. I've tried tweaking things a variety of different ways but haven't had much success to show for my efforts.
Any comments, thoughts or advice would be much appreciated.

You might need to change your play style and focus on objectives than damage running with a squad might help too. I'll share you my hanger in abit but I run 4-8 light and medium bots and have a consistent 96-98% winrate. I run mostly solo

It's become obvious that level 7 weapons are not a sweet spot for me, but at a day per weapon it's not a quick problem to rectify. I have no issues when I run with my clan. This is definitely a problem specific to individual play. But I do a lot of individual play because I don't like waiting around for others to be ready and I'm less likely to get gold rewards with the clan as some of my teammates run full Gep hangars with level 10+ weapons.

I share the same sentiments as you. I have 2x lvl 3 Patton and 2x Lvl 3 Boas. My weapon average is about 7. I'm seeing Level 1 bots from light to heavy with lvl 9-12 weapons.
Sometimes I also see Lvl 6 Heavies but their weapon average is 5-6.
I highly suspect the sweet spot is lvl 4 mediums with lvl 6 weapons and anything higher we'll start to see level 9-12 weapons. I can't downgrade my weapons from 7 to 6 so unless it really bothers you a lot, then sell your weapons and start over.
For me I choose to continue and upgrade my weapons to lvl 8 and so on. It will take a while.

Personally I'd say take the plunge and head to 6/8 > 7/9 > 8/10 > 9/10, etc. If you got the bots and the weapons, just concentrate on leveling and becoming competitive in the higher tiers.
Quality of players (in general) gets better the higher you go. People grab beacons, seldom run nori zenit Tasha's, and generally have a 4+ slot hangar.
Once I hit 9/10 and above, my hangar could hold its own in nearly every match. I don't regret it and enjoy playing top tier daily.

Yes, as KaneoheGrown said, no point being frustrated at what you have right now, and persevere. Keep upgrading the weapons, watch videos, learn how to play patiently, as timing is everything. One wrong move and you're exposed, and gunned down. With level 7 weapons, I would suggest you to go full high silver with heavy bots, then upgrade the weapons to lvl9, while bots remaining at lvl6. Then 7/9, 7/10, 7/11, 8/11, 9/11 etc.

Gentlemen - thanks for sharing your thoughts and experiences related to this matter. Based on this information, here's what I did: 1) I am currently levelling a full set of level 8 light weapons in the background, with 4/8 and then 6/8 as targets. 2) After additional experimentation, I switched my active lineup to lvl 4 meds and split the weapons between level 7 and level 5 (see attached). That seems to be giving me reasonable matchups (though there are still too many guys with 30-40% win rate and hangars full of heavy mechs) and after playing last night my win rate is now going in the right direction. This supports the idea that level 6 weapons represent a sweet spot in the MM (perhaps there is some kind of bracketing at 1-3, 4-6, 7-9 and 10-12?). 3) I'm usually the lead in both damage and beacons if I play my normal style, so I've taken the approach that when I have a strong team, I just do the beacons and don't chase the kills & damage numbers. That seems to help reduce the frequency of grossly lopsided matches that can occur after a few wins in a row. One interesting side note: while experimenting I finally ran into a member of the WiKittens in one of my matches. He was definitely the best of the opponents, but his teammates didn't do him any favors. Better luck next time.

Yeah, I'm about at the same spot, and noticed a lot more heavy bots and powerful weapons when I started moving from 4/6 to 4/7, but I mostly thought it was cool to finally see some of the equipment I haven't seen before. As long as I can contribute to the team, I'm happy, and I do get some matches where I'm the big hitter, so it's not that an uncomfortable place. I, too, am choosing to continue to upgrade everything to 7 and then on to 8, subbing heavies for meds here and there with more and more frequency, maybe sooner rather than later based on what Zhøu™ said.
