Just how rigged are chests? That's a good question that I've been trying to answer. I may have finally got something close to it.
Two different players that are sub-level, out of 6 chests each opened (1.5x), there was a 50% correlation. That means more than half of the prizes from player A were also received by player B.
The gold chests for lvl 30 players seem more random, but 2 different players getting 50% the same gear out of 6 chests is definitely cooked.

It comes as no surprise anymore. After so many years and they still have not been forced to disclose the odds of landing a specific item you want.
No wonder they have had some success selling mk2 items and bots in store because it's the only place you actually get what you sse.
The free chests I have opened have all been trash. 500 shards of soon to be nerfed weapons everytime and the handful of red chests have yielded 500 shards of a new weapon. You have to open 20 of those to get one weapon.... Ridiculous.

Reminder, don't confuse maxipads with chests. I've stopped doing maxipads, but in the last event, I posted the percentages here:
The trend is obvious: with each successive event, "Rare" (shards) has taken more prizes.
