Does anyone actually get any decent skills when they promote a pilot these days? I'm talking about staple skills like increase speed/durability/defense points etc.
I landed a few legendary pilots and decided to level some of them to try out and surprise surprise, all the same crappy skills tend to come up on different bots and different pilots. Upgraded 4 pilots to level 40 or so and the same lame arse skills just keep popping up. You know the ones like "if X happens, then Y will occur" with the "Y" part being some miniscule useless ability that sucks anyway.
So, has the % chance of landing a good skill (or at least a higher tier one) been "rigged" for a while now to get players buying memorium or whatever it is to level pilots, or is it just luck of the draw?

There definitely seems to be some sort of pattern, as when I was re-rolling skills using the random selector, it often seemed to just pick from a certain pool of skills (usually the conditional skills) and rarely do any others. It seems like the conditional skills are put into a “common” rarity while some better skills like Mechanic, Deft Survivor, and Armor Expert are put in a “rare” rarity. The free skill you get when ranking up a pilot seems to be the same: often you get trash, but sometimes a good one shows up.

The balance has definitely changed with the new currency. Something to track in future. I've totally cut down on upgrading pilots since memorium came to be

I always end up having to change them for a decent one and don`t even bother leaving it to chance to roll a better one. So it`s 750 moronium and pick a good one pretty much every time.

I usually get the “lock on quicker” skill like almost every time when left to chance or the free skill. It will even go as far as giving it to me twice after a few random rolls. Better to spend the moronium and get a good skill.

I always get the Dodger ones, the one that lowers power cells costs and the stupid one which recharges your ability when you reach half health. I've stopped rerolling and just pick them now.

Honestly, I don't hate the Dodger skill if it's saving me power cells. 28 vs 40 is a decent number.

Another thing, before memorium, I used to get random gold skills a lot more frequently than I do now. Every skill I reroll now is base tier or blue on occasion.

Starting to look like T1 = 52%, T2 = 42%, T3 = 6%, T4 = 0% (u/g token only.)

There isn’t much randomness in this game. When the illusion of randomness is introduced, that means you are getting less and paying for stuff you don’t really want.

Better to spend the moronium and get a good skill. I've kept that quicklock skill on one pilot, a grunt running a scourge typhon on my smurf account. so good, chuckles. melting balls, toe to toe. But yeah. near useless really. I just can't afford to pick skills. I can hardly afford to promote any more.

That's a club with a lot of members.

This has changed but when I don't know. In the last 30 pilot skill assignments, I've seen 1 * tier 4, 3 * tier 3, the rest 50-50 T1/T2. I've also started getting "mechanic" again.
Other differences include skill set range has gone from ~18 (with Gunsmith being ~20%) to 32, with the highest %s being Mechanic & Stubborn Speedster. The only skill I haven't seen has been "Road Hog."
What Pixonic tried to do was force us to pay for useful skills. Seemingly what Pixonic found out is that when the pilot skills are continually garbage, players just ignored them and no longer used that part of the game (and likely complained about it.) i.e why buy moronium to upgrade your pilot just to get some garbage skill? People will learn not to do that because they don't want to pay twice.
