Not new, but it is strange that it's now showing in the USA and etc. Here is the information from the Wiki I learned a bit about this currency directly from a russian player with it, so listen up because you wont get this random info anywhere else! The currency exists to bypass apple's sanctions on russia. On March 2, 2022, Apple, among others, officially announced the suspension of sales in Russia. Because of this, russian iOS players cant buy things in War Robots, and Pix isn't a big fan of that. To circumvent this, russian players can buy offers in two ways, either with these, or with real money as per usual. Of course, due to apple's suspsension of sales in russia, one of these buttons just doesnt work. Russian players get this currency by buying it from a third party website, where it is then added to their account in game and can be used to buy whatever. Interestingly, this totally violates apples ToS. Remember how fortnite got kicked off the app store for not sharing 30% of their revenue with apple? Yeah, war robots in russia is just casually doing that. Since the currency is bought from a third party site, apple doesnt get their cut. Funnily enough, in true pixonic fashion, unlike fortnite who simply gave the end user a 30% discount since they stopped with the apple fee, pixonic gives the player a 19% discount and keeps the other 11% to themselves lmfao. Also, the currency isn't called gems. It's called D-cubes (Д-кубы) Relevant screenshots:

The explanation seems legit. I'm going with a less glamorous theory.
It's a "dumpster fire" button. When everything goes to 「dookie」 and you just want out, hit that dumpster fire button for instant relief.

Not surprising really, given they've been excommunicated from the world of commerce. Front door for the general public, back door for the Russians. They're probably used to it.
